Thing is if he would of come over and talked to me about it i would of seen if there was something i can do. People complain about the stupidest things. #-o

I would do the same! really peeved me the fact that they didn't even speak to me! fair enough I don't look to approachable, 6ft 6 with a skin head but then I don't really want to speak to a bitter wrinkled 5ft granny who smells of wee!!

It annoyed me that there was no where to respond to!! didn't they think that would aggrivate me?

I thought the letter was quite polite.

Just get it checked at the mot centre and if its legal, post a copy through everyones letter box.

I had a complaint from a neighbour once.....

I dealt with it in my own way which i might add was in a calm and dignified mannor and a conclusion was drawn which was beneficial to both parties.....

.....They now live very far away after our little talk.

Hi Big Maka,

Here's my opinion FWIW and what I would do. Bewarned, its long!

Everyone on here is biased because we are all car enthusiasts for one, and generally speaking appreciate moddified and loud cars. That probably accounts for about 5% of the polpulation max! To all others its a pain in the ar$e unless they only hear the odd car every now and again. This definately sounds like an 'older' person writing the letter so I can understand their point of view, and also that they didn't knock on your door or leave their details. As already said, the stereotypical guy/gal in a loud modded car is a hard xxxx who will burn their house down if they start to complain about anything.

So unfortunate as it is they didn't leave details, I think its understandable. Personally if I was them I would have approached you in person on your return home, in a polite manor. But then I am 26 and fairly gutsy, not a widowed lady of 65 for example...

An old lady (I could tell by her writting style) left a note on my car with no details asking me politely not to park where I normally park because it is designated for her block of flats. Annoyed me slightly initially as I can never get in my designated space but fair point, my bad, I don't park there any more.

So, here's what I'd do. You say all the people in your near vicinity are frendly about it, and you suspect it might be someone in another road. Write a note on the computer and drop it through all the local letterboxes stating that you had a letter from someone in your neighbourhood and were concerned that they were upset by your car. Explain that it is legal and passed its MOT with ease and that you always drive courteously around the neighbourhood. Also say you have had no other complaints and if they still have an issue with the car then to contact you directly to discuss (leave name and address if you want, or they will find you if you don't want to). Politeness goes a long way, it might even be solved when they realise you are actually a nice guy, not a retard chav

With this note they will either put up or shut up.

You might think you shouldn't have to do this but we live in a cilvilised society (generally speaking) and I don't see the point of being at war with people when there really is no need. This IMO should solve the issue.

xxxx me that was a long drawn out piece of crap

Some people need to get a hobby or something, if all they've got to moan about is a car with a loud exhaust FFS!!!!!!

How long can they hear it for? 2 minutes when you leave home and 2 more when you get back? These old f*ckers need to get real!!!!!!!!!

Make a big sign and put it up outside you house, that says:
"MY EXHAUST IS FULLY ROAD LEGAL, TRY TURNING YOU HEARING AID DOWN. FOR ANYMORE INFO PLEASE KNOCK ON MY DOOR AND SPEAK TO ME"

I'm sorry but this subject makes me really, REALLY mad!

I like the approach it's thought out and civilised does draw attention to the fact though and then the topic is out which might not have been other wise but is very tactful and workable. 8)

Just thought would a Granny know the buzz words like loud pipes the in thing could ths be a young/er person who is may be envious. :-k

I agree with Leeroys approach, very sensible and very civalised as long as your letter is not sarcastic or threatening.

Ive had a similar instance with a neighbour across the road from me (just reminded me, because i had a slight chat with her last night).

The parking in our street is quite tight, and all the spaces (no markings) on the street are either face in or rear in (you know what i mean, like supermarket parking spaces.)

A year or so ago, i parked up and she came out of her house and asked me to move my car closer to the one next to me so more cars could fit in. I hadn't left that big a gap, big enough to get in and out of my car without doors touching cars etc.

I appologised and was polite and thought nothing of it ... until last night...

I found a space, unfortunately in front of her house again (there are no designated spaces in the street) so i reversed in and turned the engine off.

As i was getting out of the car i noticed her standing at the door and she said to me - "you shouldnt reverse in, everyone else drives in nose first, because when you start up in the morning we get exhaust fumes in through our windows, doors and walls".
"I know its harder to get out, but it means we are happier"

FFS! I mean, i could have seen her point if her house was on the road, if she actually ever had her windows or door open, but it was 50/50 the way cars were parked.

I again, was polite and said that in future i would park the other way. Thankfully i move out in 3 weeks!

If i'd have known there was a street traffic wardens job i would have been in the running for that!

Oh, because of course you can get exhaust fumes through your xxxx doors and walls ](*,) She probably means the sound is closer to the building and so is louder...

I had the std Toyota exhaust on the car when I bought it and the old fella down the road came out to give me a bollocking for the noise from it.

Imagine his dismay when I got the shiny exhaust pictured above fitted the following day! :D
