Howdy folks.

Just to chuck my two penarth's worth into the thread...

I'm a TB regular, a MK1 club member, and have been a member of the DC for a while too. I chose to spend my time now with the TB mob. This is not a dig or a snub at any other club, it's just that I find the small, unregulated, grab a grinder and have a go attitude fits well with what I'm doing with the MR2 at the moment. (Trying to get a 250BHP AW11 converted for the cost of a custom turbo manifold  ... )

It was a real pleasure to finally meet Tom whom I'd known online from Mark and Lauren's' SC forum, and to bump into Vashy (fun memories of Anglesey in the fog!) amongst others from many other clubs. Tis great to get so many diverse clubs in the same few acres of ground. =D>

T'would be a shame to let any of the current drivel stand in the way of fun relations between our clubs. I'd certainly like to meet up for track days or whatever in the not too distant future.

As you say communication does seem to be a tad lacking in all this but please bear in mind both that we're a very young club. (JAE being our first event) and that our club founder works in India at the moment...)

I'm sure many of you think we're a bunch of yobs, but please reserve judgement. In fact it is the lack of any sort of in-house bickering or politics that appeals to many of the TB crowd. In jest we may poke fun at the amount of rules or moderation on forums but it's 99% banter, not animosity. (And breathe Owen.)

Good luck guys, we're all on the same side. :P

Cheers all,

Owen
(Hoping I won't get lynched if I wander onto an IMOC stand wearing a TB shirt at the next show...)

If anybody thinks we'd move a sign :? it's not like TB members haven't got a tongue in their heads and wouldn't find the right stand anyway!!! C'mon guys if you think about it that would just be daft wouldn't it. :o Far too petty for us. We were asked if we minded a sign and we said fine, if we did mind we'd have said no rather than go to those lengths. You might have noticed it was rather windy on Saturday afternoon... ](*,)

All of us came over to the TB area at one time or another for a look round the cars, I think Tom, Anna and Alex all had some pretty good friendly chats with you guys too, believe me there is no animosity from our end at all. We booked for the cars we were expecting, a few didn't turn up (probably weather related, but a few also had trouble with their cars and couldn't go) but we couldn't have known that - and we genuinely had no say in where any other club was located, you credit us with far too much influence!! The only fuss we ever made was in moving the non-MR2s.

We even came looking for interclub footie team but no-one was there, sorry you missed it chaps.

Hi Pete btw, MR2OC had some nice cars when I looked round too. :) I hear what you are saying about the scoobies etc., but tbh at least we are not all blue with gold wheels, I think there is enough variation in MR2s for that 'sameiness' not to happen!

To end on a positive note I really enjoyed the weekend, we had a great time with the bouncy boxing, the social (playstations, films, lighting!) and for me was one of the best JAEs ever. Thanks to Anna, Alex and Tom for organising and Malcolm and Chris for marshalling. Well done guys.

John, it was great to see you on the TwoBrutal stand. I spent a good amount of time over there as you know and met Nik, Paul (Jasper), Alan (A5FBR), Owen (Marksman) and Lynn amongst others (sorry can't remember names  ) . I was really impressed with the engineering that you guys are doing! =D> Thanks so much to you all for showing me round all the different cars and different installations.

I spent quite a bit of time talking to Nik and we were talking about collaborating on future events (trackdays, drag strip days etc). Jo did as well.

As for your post John, honestly you've got the wrong end of the stick. Anna sent Paul an email a few days before asking if we wanted to collaborate together. Paul said it was up to Nik. Nik was emailed but unfortunately didn't get a chance to read it, never mind :(

Not enough space? The IMOC pitch on saturday had more space between cars than the entire size of our pitch which had to include our tents, cars and marquee.

John if you look at our JAE thread and then the layout you will see that we would have been pushed if everybody had turned up that said they would.

Megatron wrote:I also find particulary amusing the attitude of some IMOC people about the 'fit in with us or don't bother' attitude; did you also dictate to the mk1club and mr2roc about what they could and could not do?

Absolutely not, far from it. In fact, for example, it was markiii (ROC) who came up with the layout. I just drew it up to scale on Autocad and posted it up.

Megatron wrote:Nice attitude towards your members; remember that the vast majority of the TB club are also in IMOC, mk1 club or MR2ROC. Oh yeah, and the fact that a large percentage of TB members contribute a hell of a lot of technical knowledge or help to other IMOC users.

John there is a lot of cross-over between all clubs. I for one am a TB forum member for example. And I've lots of friends over on TwoBrutal. There really isn't any bad feeling from our side!

Megatron wrote:What was quite telling was the fact that when Nik and Paul put up a small sign on the edge of the IMOC/MK1/MR2OC pitch advising those looking for Twobrutal of the new location (the change was made at such a late time that all of the maps and literature had no mention of TB in it's actual location), that it didn't last one night.. and presumably was pulled down and subsequently dissapeared without trace. I can't imagine the MK1 Club or it's members doing this....

John, nobody would do this, why would we?

Megatron wrote:I fully expect this message to be either deleted or dismissed out of hand with a load of excuses, but at least we've now seen the true colours of certain individuals within the club.

No, you are a IMOC member as well and can express your opinion. I just need to persuade you that there is no animosity from our side. And which individuals? I am the Events Admin and I certainly would like to collaborate. As are the rest of the IMOC committee.

Megatron wrote:BTW, Thanks to the mk1club members and those few from imoc/mr2oc who came over during the weekend and later on in the evenings and stopped around for drinks and big-screen playstation games.. hope we made you feel welcome!

Yes you did! :D That is why I am quite saddened by your post :(

John, to summise, it was just a load of misunderstanding and communication (plus us all being messed around by the organisers). Next year (if you want it that is) I am sure we can collaborate. :D

guys i think the biggest problem TB members had was the fact that right up until 11am on thursday night all of the mr2 clubs were at least in the same area....the question i was asked prior to JAE by Jo and Anna was wether or not we wanted to be part of the village on that site rather than being fenced off in one corner.

I couldnt give an answer to that question as im not the admin, that decision would have been made by nik or collectively as a club but unfortunately nik wasnt contactable about this so my final pm to anna asked if we could leave the decision until we all got there on friday and spoke in person.Im 100% sure if that had happened then we would all have been on the same site without a problem but come thursday morning claire informed us that "building debris" on that pitch meant we couldnt be there....not only that but we were then relocated absolutely nowhere near any mr2 clubs at all.The final kicker being the fact that our attempt to notify the general public that our stand had been moved by placing a small sign with a map on it on the very edge of the imoc pitch which was then gone within 4 hours of it being staked 12" into rock hard ground left us all with a sour taste in our mouths.....all of the above are reasons why some TB members felt shunned by the other mr2 clubs. We are a very friendly outgoing club and members of all the other clubs too, there is no real problem here, not unless someone from your stand actually did go out of their way to have us relocated and remove our sign....we will never know that one.

Perhaps the "building debris" tale was a cover up for poor organisation by the JAE crew, this too we will never know.

At the end of the day we all had an amazing time, theres no bad blood at all and both nik and i had a good chat to anna and co about it all....in the future we are all more than happy to colaborate (just dont leave your mk2 engine bays unguarded for more than 10 minutes, and if you hear a grinder dont worry about it :) )

It was a superb event thoroughly enjoyed by all, lets take this years mistakes and make next year a better one.

What TB need to realise is we'd have loved to have you, I can't emphasize enough that we didn't move you. It's a shame you didn't notify us the sign had gone, we'd have had a search - I just didn't notice.

FWIW the back of the site did have a lot of rubble just under the surface of the grass - I found several bits of concrete and paving with my tent pegs, LOL. But to give that as a reason seems weird.

Anyway as Paul says, next year eh  In the meantime I'm sure we can organise some collaborative track days, and maybe an interclub challenge at Santa Pod!!

philster be under no illusion that the sign wasnt removed by someone,it definately was....the stake was hammered 12" into very hard ground, theres no way the wind could have pulled that out, you've been watching twister too much mate lol

We arent that bothered now, whoever pulled it out is as childish as they come, and if it was an imocer shame on you,all we know is someone did,one things for sure,it wasnt the wind.

If any of us running the stand had seen it Paul rest assured they would've been in trouble. I still find it odd though tbh. Did the stake go too then?

I really can't believe it was an IMOC person, why would anybody do it? Incidentally, I think at some point, somebody stole one of the stakes which was holding up the camping area tape - why would somebody do that ?

Just an update.

In order to help the communication between Two Brutal, IMOC, MR2ROC, and mk1club for future events, Two Brutal (Nik) has been invited to an inter-club discussion forum.

Hopefully we will be able to avoid the communication issues that happened this year [-o<

yep toni the whole lot went, the hole that was left was 3" wider than the bottom meaning it was rove back and forth to pull it out.

Great idea anna,im sure nik would love to be involved with that,it would certainly make future events easier to co-ordinate...nice meeting you at jae too!

Hmmn, OK :-k I wouldn't discount a random act of vandalism tbh...I really can't see anybody off IMOC doing it. :o I don't think it disadvantaged you FWIW, everybody I know came to see you all. :)

Owen, great to meet you and Lynn! :D

Really impressed with your dedication, trailering your car to and from JAE from South Wales!

Looks really close to completion now, can't wait to see it on the road (or rather on a track).

Pleeeaase let us know when it is completed and which trackdays you are taking it to, I'd love to pop along (for a passenger ride).

Cheers Owen,

Best regards,

Tom

(PS Owen, good post by the way. I agree with everything you say! :D )

im sorry if anyone gets affended by what i say but things need to be said..... if people are going to play silly games and back stab other people ( just like the things i heared ) then be big, stand up and let everbody hear. all i can feel at the moment is dissgust towards a certain club for being lied to on more than one occasion. my face didnt fit within the club but be big and tell me . as for two brutal who untill this weekend i had never met i can only commend you for making me feel so welcome and part of something, big thanks to every body at tb...
