I have a feeling it will sell for around the £500 mark.

Think it is likely that is a private plate bought from DVLA, they do 666,777,888 etc.

180K miles that car though - might be good for an engine swap mind 8)

hey toni, when your car is finished, assuming it has to be insured as a kit car, if you choose that way..?.. do the origonal plates still stay or does it get bumped to 'Q" unless you have a private reg?

Toni has her own plate (see her avatar) so it won't matter. I would be incredibly surprised if it couldn't keep its original plate (if she didnt' have a private plate) as teh chassis itself will not have changed.

So can you change from a 'Q' plate to a private number? I thought you were stuck with them

Err... I don't think you can actually. I've been looking at this for registering the kit car; as the parts are from different sources, and not one single donor, it's more than likely we'll get a Q, rather than an age related plate (which you would tend to get if you followed the 'points' system and used a single donor vehicle). As far as I can tell, Q plates are non-removeable.

You would most likely get a similar age-related plate if you were to re-register an MR2 as a kit-car. NOT a Q-plate.
