turbo question, is my blitz k1-380 a bearing or normal turbo

Post by RyanRs »

need to get me blitz rebuilt as it is leaking oil, turbo techics can do this for me for £190 +Vat, so long as it isnt a rollerbearing turbo...

does anyone know if it is or not? its a K1-380 -380ps, simila size to the CT20, direct replacement for the CT20 unit.. so no fancy manifolds etc...

if it is a roller turbo, who can rebuild these? and if the bearings are kanackerd, will it mean replacing the shaft etc aswell?

Is there any way of telling if its a bearing shaft or normal, without taking it apart?if you put ur finger on the compressor , u can wiggle it like a fraction of a mm ... i would amagin that if a bearing turbo had play, any movement would cause it to come out of balance and shatter/not run smoothly???

I know the K27s from Blitz are just regular turbos, I doubt the smaller k1-380v would be ball bearing, have you tried contacting your Blitz distributor?

As far as i'm aware Ryan it's just a stock ct26 with the intake housing and wheel changed to stop the usual tail off that the ct26 has.

Don't quote me on it though. :?

the blitz K1 - 380, is just a rebuilt ct20b with slightly larger compressor wheel & exhaust wheel as well as a steel shaft. the turbo is rated to 380-400ps with a recommended max boost pressure of 1.2bar.

although it can be run up to 1.6 with ease, reason i know is this was the turbo that was on my car the 1st year i had it. in fact its going back on next week as the k27 is being sold

oke people thanx loads :) i searched google and couldnt find anything :S

turbo technics said that in the rollerbearing type turbos, the bearings tend to shatter and damage the shaft at the same time.... they also said that its too much effort etc to rebuild a bearing turbo :S wich is odd as on there website, it says they make both types :S

thanx anyway people :)

Edit : Err, matt_mr2t , which link on the search was the 'interesting' stuff? all that search brings up is stuff about playstation games :S lol
