Bottom End Bearing Help

I stripped the car down to change the BEB's, and found that the ones in were quite fooked.

So, went to put the new ones in that I'd ordered, and they were too big.

Now, I told the supplier it was a 1991 Mk2 Mr2 Rev1 Turbo...3S-GTE and Sw20 Chassis.

So, does anyone have the part code for these, and the number of a supplier?

I was also told that Rev1 bearings and Rev2 bearings are the same, is this also true?

I would go to toyota with your VIN and let them order them, there are a few different sizes.

It tells you in the BGB how to get the sizes off the block and crank.

Because Toyota said it would take a month to get the parts in, and I don't fancy waiting that long.

So im using a different supplier, but as I said they have already supplied the wrong ones, so I'm trying again.

The supplier has said that they can't get them...

So it's gonna have to be from Toyota.

Problem is, I don't know if my engine is Rev1 or Rev2.

Can someone please confirm if the bottom end bearings are the same on each version?

The bearings on the REV 1, 2, and 3 are the same. You shouldnt have any problem getting them from any Motor Factors for about £80 a set.

You can get them from Toyota but expect to pay £280 for the same set. Ive been told by my local Motor Factors that using standard bearings will be fine as long as your crank isnt damaged / worn. If your crank has been damaged then I would recommend that you get it ground and have new bearings matched to that.

You HAVE to order the bearings by matching the numbers on the crank (big end) and block (mains) if you ring Fensport they will probley have them in stock, and they will ask you for these numbers.

But, when I rang they said about the numbers.

But at least I know now, and ive got the numbers.

Two number 1's, a 2 and a 3.

When you say the bearings are fooked, you mean they are just worn? Or has one actually span?

I would never replace a set of big end bearings without having the crank and rods checked and polished and measured for size.

Ive seen people swap out bearings alot of times and they have shot a rod within 500miles.

Just a word of concern thats all.

Rod bolt failure was the culprit, pretty much a clean snap on the head of it. Should of fitted ARP, but you live and learn mate.

Got some big plans for the 2, but in no rush as ive just bought a house with my girlfriend, the car can wait, give me time to get other things on it sorted too

Just a single garage unfortunantly! But its a decent size, its well big enough to work on the car, but i have my warehouse which holds about 12 cars where I have my car anyway, so pretty lucky that way!

Sorry to thread jack...

I'd like to know what the numbers corrispond to on the crank and the block.

I've got the numbers 0 0 1 1 1 on the crank and 1 1 1 1 1 on the block, but what does that tell me with regards to bearing sizes?

Anyone have any pearls of wisdom on this?

You need 11111 bearings to match the 11111 block and same with the crank, i think there are 3 or 4 different sets of numbers, but if your using your existing block and crank you should be able to give your VIN to toyota, the problems start when your using rev1/2 blocks and rev3 crank.
Plasti-gauge is always a good idea to double check

I'm using TOGA HP bearings in "Standard" size. Been trying for ages to see how these match up with the Toyota sizing system on the US board. Its become apparent that the MR2 BGB section for this is complete BS.... just one big typo

Gonna try and measure them up this weekend so should know soon enough.
