You're using the clutch, right? *has visions of much revving & grinding*.. :clown: :clown:

Personally I think it sounds good, but yeah, to your average joe it probably sounds like you don't know how to drive..

I remember getting a nasty look from some lil' old lady crossing the road when I forgot to shift my foot and ended up coming to a complete stop and *then* revving it.. O:)

Yes mate I am lol.

Just when people here the blip sometimes they look over as if I dont know how to drive lol.

However had a knowing look from a TVR driver earlier

had a play with this technique after reading laurens article a few months ago not long after getting my first mr2. At first I just tried it in a deserted car park to get modulation of two pedals with one foot mastered...

Then I got out onto the open road. The first few times were rubbish as I just made sure the coast was clear and tried it up to imaginary obstacles. (Imagine there's a speed bump you're braking for...and for gods sake dont endanger other road users in the process!)

Then I went out one night and had a drive around the twisties...was hardly thinking about my pedal technique at the time and just went for it into a tight bend. Nailed it. Felt awesome. From then on, whenever i'm driving 'with spirit' I use the technique. Is amazing how much balanced the car is into a corner...and with the mr2 that will certainly free us some tenths on the track ;)

Been doing this for a while, its odd but I find if i'm going flat out driving like i'm on a track, really hard braking i get it right every time. Doing it when driving sedately then its all wrong, it only really works if your braking hard. If your driving sedately then a blip with no brakes on the downchange will smooth things out enough.

Well yes, its a racing technique so most benefit is obviously when ou are at least driving 'spiritedly' or pushing hard. Essential of course for on-track work.
