How is paphos

would you do it again

This was my fourth trip to Cyprus but the first stay in Paphos

- it's 5 years since I was last there and sadly the onslaught of tourism seems to have really taken the shine off the place now.

The remote villages are still as nice as ever, the people friendly etc but the towns are a mass of corporate begging, adverts for property everywhere in a bid to lure people to clutter up the hills with more generic block villas, touts, all day english breakfast, pubs with English names and so on.

.

.

I go on holiday to escape most of that absorb the culture of the place, without going out of your way to get a taste of Cyprus you might as well go to the seaside here and wear a coat to keep warm.

It's not what it used to be but it's still a nice break from the UK in many respects

- they just don't seem to value the country as much as they should.

They need to restrict the influx of housing, protect the history by not building near it, limit the number of hotels etc.

.

it's too late now though I fear, another Benidorm in 10 years time.

I've not been to any greek islands

?

Theres enough greeks in middlesbrough to not need to stray away

!!

LOL

- I went to Skiathos earlier in the year and that was fantastic, still relatively unspoilt, still very Greek, tiny island, plenty of culture and no

"18-30" scene to speak of but still some fantastic nights out to be had in a more mature way.

jeez I sound like my Dad!

I fancy Santorini next but might go to San Francisco

/ Santa Cruz again as that was a total chillout experience.

Cyprus is off the list of places to go back to though unfortunately, unless someone else is paying of course
