ATS TD05 or 06

Post by Fats »

Any body got one off these fitted?, just wondering if its much of a problem piping up the intercooler with one off these, either using the standard ic or aftermarket, ie greddy, spearco ect. im fitting a kit to a rev3 just want to know if i need to have a pipe fabricated before hand.

Cheers

Alright mate, cheers that puts my mind at ease, how you get on fitting the kit, any problems with oil feed and return lines, no extra unions or joints needed. how well does it go with the turbo on, iv'e all ways looked at those kits but never really heard any one going on about them, mainly greddy kits and hks

Fitting is easy enough everything was supplied. The only problem i have is that the turbo is so heavy it seems to have stretched the manifold to turbo studs (as i had to remove the turbo supports as the originals don't fit) this leads to air leaks. I'm going to try and make something to take the weight of the turbo this weekend (as well as putting new studs in).

TD06-20G kit here for a customer.

Not the Greddy kit, but ATS Racing. Far superior component quality, plus Lotus Esprit chargecooler. Suspect will need custom pipework :D

Im just waiting for ATS coming back to me so I can place the order but can I ask you a few questions as a UK based owner who'se done the conversion.

Were there any snags you encountered doing it, did the car start up fine and drive fine with nothing else modified. Does it run fine on the standard Toyota VSV wastegate controller and ECU ?

Cheers,

Did not encounter any snags at all, kit was a nice easy fit, itll run fine on stock ecu etc, itll work fine on the vsv but i ditched all that stuff years ago.

i ran 17psi of boost constantly with a greddy intercooler, changed alot since then, had the kit a year now.

My car is top secret lol

Hey Rikki I promise to get you an e-mail later today. But the answer to your first question about running/driving is YES. As far as running on the standard turbo VSV, no one has tried that yet, but I am sure it is possible. You will need to place a T in the hose between the turbocharger and the bottom port on teh external wastegate. Teh open side of the T will go to the turbo VSV to allow it to bleed off boost. If you have a manual boost controller that requires the VSV to be in place then it will go between the turbocharger and the T.

Hi Aaron, no rush at all mate. My car's just gone funny today unfortunately :(

Installed the NOS, ran it on the rollers to check everything was ok (before connecting, arming etc) and its losing boost somewhere and running lean midrange before going rich at high revs. Down from 18psi midrange to 15psi and losing about 30bhp into the bargain :( On a power run in 4th watchig from behind the car it looks like its missing 2 to 3 times from 2000rpm to redline, around midway (as noted from the puffs of black smoke and the stabby noise from the exhaust).

Not happy.

On a brighter note engine bay has more bling LOL

How much NOS are you running, and at what psi? What was the hp on the dyno? (flywheel, or wheel hp?)

How does the TD06 fit on the Rev3 with the ST205 CC conversion? Is all ok with the external wastegate etc?

Does it work with the AVCR to control the boost, or should I just set it via the wastegate spring and leave it at that?

I might gets meself one .. muahahaha!

It will work with the AVC-R. And it clears the ST205 CC easily. Scott McClendon (he works here at ATS) recently installed a ST205CC on his MR2 with a TD06 kit.

We didnt even get as far as mapping for NOS. I think where the NOS jets are plumbed in there is an air leak either at the union or back the way down the line at the solenoid. Got a spare hose so will check it over the weekend.
