I think Committee members should be left as is unless they decide to step down. They already know the "job" and no sense having a new lot in every year or so. Like a person who is trained for a job would get it over someone that isn't.

As for the mods, that depends on whether I get in or not   :eye:

In the not too distant past it was made clear which members were Admin, and which had special responsibility but no Admin status:

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/imo ... sage/97834
or
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/imo ... sage/96027

yet in less than 12 months some of these people have been promoted to senior positions in the club without apparent election. Yet at the same time there is painstaking effort to ensure that the 6th Moderator is fairly elected.

I think the club needs some stability to take it forwards, so ideally the existing committee should remain unchanged. However for it to be effective and to stop the bun fights for continually re-occuring, or resentment from bubbling up each member in that committee needs to be ratified by an election of the club as a whole.

Surely the simplest solution to put this one to bed (pardon the pun) is to have an election similar to that held by PLCs for their directors. So for each existing Committee members / postion a simple poll with:

Yes I want them to reman.
No I want them to change.
I abstain.

If the majority want an appointment to change then on close of pole nominations are invited, 5 to "second" the nomination then up for a poll (as per events etc. posts).

This should be built in to the club constitution with periodic re-elections every year or two, or when a Committee Member steps down.

I would suggest such a poll needs to be held for the current non-elected committee members (i.e. Anna et al should be exempted), before the end of the year. I am pretty sure that IMOC will be 100% behind the majority of the existing committee retaining their posts.

All IMHO but lesser clubs than this have been killed by b1tching and I cancelled my MR2DC membership because of the smell of sycophants.

lol.. very dipolmatic

As on my previous correspondance.. I would like to see a date set (anytime - not fussed  ) - probably best when IMOC is a little more "quiet" that a GENERAL ELECTION can be held for the Board / Committee

I personally don't feel the need for this but I know it will keep others happy and I guess the whole process Transparent and in the domain of the collective community.

Top work guys =D>

cheers
Frank.

I've been an active member of this club for over 3years now and have never had an issue with who's been in charge and how its been run. Have elections if we must, but for now leave it as it is.

Can't see the point of chaniging committe members. They are doing a good job, why would we need to change it? Because someone has a personal grudge against them? :|

Come on guys, leave it how it is and only change when someone stands down. Then we can vote for the replacement.

I've not said change it.... just keeping things transparent.

we all know the current team will get the job anyway - it's more of a PR exercise IMO

if that's felt totally not needed then fine with me - I just want people to be happy

If they know the "job" and the members are happy with them there won't be a new lot in every year will there? All that will happen is that the team will consist of those people that the members feel are best suited for the role.

If that's the current team then so be it, if it isn't then there is obviously a desire for change.

Yep I get that, but just hope it's as simple as that. :D

TBH I've no problem with 'standing' regularly - but not less than a year after I did already. We are trying to organise into a proper club - and yes that means elections too.

In fact IMOC is a lot of work and I won't always be involved due to the time it takes, so change will come about in the future no doubt.

T
p.s. Rufus I am not having a go as I know you are on chat, but you're hardly regularly involved with IMOC with only 9 posts. If it bothers you so much get more involved?

Just a quick whinge,

I was not happy with the way the moderator election was set out. In most cases if you are electing 6 people to positions you would normally have 6 votes to spread accross the board for the 6 people you thought deserved the position.
That way you get a better representation of the voting. This would have probably given a more even spread of votes (as opposed to 1-2 people with 50% of the votes and the people down the bottom with less than 10!!) and would have probably stopped there being a tie at the end of it.

Just a thought for future elections!!

Yup - this was discussed at the time.
Tbh, you could go down a whole host of different systems - such as voting for 6 but also having an order of preference but the stats on that can get pretty complex pretty quick, so we opted for the simple solution (1 vote each).
but it might be something to try in the future....

My 2p...on how things are running now.

I would like to see a page listing who's who within IMOC - Moderators as well as Committee Members, with a brief summary of who they are, what car they drive, what they do (within IMOC), as well as photos so they can be recognised at events.

From turning up to meets, I know a few of the 'top table' IMOC bods already (and can put names to faces for most of others), but at least this would give the chance for a better understanding of who everyone is for everyone else.

A fair point Nige, in fact I've been pestered for at least a month now to supply a photo as a 'page' is ready to be put public so it's my fault...!

But Toni, we all like that 'Ninja Toni' pic of you :D

Nige - yes, a very valid point and something I've also felt is missing. We've done a page with photo and profile that is part of the site update that is in the works.

In order to get something up there sooner, we could do a sticky in Member Profiles of the IMOC 'staff' - I'll see what can be done there.

Before you get your hopes up, we're not a pritty lot ;)

Darn typo

LoL! It woudn't be a bad idea to do the same as well for the Forum Moderators, if they're up for it?

I'm sure we could find a good pic of yourself, maybe enjoying the outdoor life at JAE in the recent past ... ;)
