Nice job - very fast too :thumleft:

What are your doing map-wise on the G4? Are you leaving as is? If not, have you thought about getting it run in on the dyno and then straight to power mapping?

Whoever maps it, make sure they look after cylinders two and three with fuelling. It was this that killed my engine last year (ringland on 2 due to running lean) so this time around I've made sure they know what they're doing prior to mapping (different mapper, needless to say!).

Well needless to say I won't be going back to Nispro ! I'm actually booked
in with Fensport for the mapping on the 27th of April, they can't do sooner
but TBH I don't believe id have the money to do until then anyway.

Simon said its best to run the engine in under load and he's not a fan of Dyno's
and prefers road mapping which Fensport do. He said the current map will
be ok to drive back in, just don't hit hard boost.

I've just cancelled my mapping session with Adrian on the 5th April mate so if you call them tomorrow I'm sure you could have that slot :thumleft:

Oh really ? , that could be ideal. However Adrian maps Motec I believe
and I'm running Link G4 storm, They get Tom Hudson in for that, however it's
Worth asking.

This again depends on how much Moolah I get paid next Friday.
Would be nice to have it mapped sooner though. I'll ask and let you know.

Just checked, and as I guessed I was correct, Tom Hudson is the guy for Link
mapping. Thanks for letting me know anyway pal.

If you're happy enough to drive to Southampton I'd recommend my tuner pal - he done my G4 and the road map was VERY close to the optimum dyno tune after.

Another option, if you haven't already considered it, is to drive it from YVS to evotune in Durham, get Jamie to finish running it in on the dyno, change the oil and map it for you..

Hi Guys

Both good options , but to be honest I think the 27th is the soonest I'd be
Able to afford paying for the mapping anyway. The YVS bill is going to
Superseed 3k, Fensport is also Simon's preferred mapper. Although I'm sure both of yours are good guys also.

It's more about what I can afford and at what time, fingers crossed next
Friday brings me a good pycheck !!!

So the bills in, and I was correct in 3K +, However this is mainly due to parts
Simon has been great and kept me in the loop the entire way. The Helix
clutch and Mishimoto rad have been whats brought the price from the 2.5k
mark to 3.5K.

"Parts and Engineering £2638.08 , Labour £900 = £3538.08 Total"

Only £900 labour ! , Rogue were saying it was going to be around 3k for
labour !

Anyway, I'm making the journey next Friday to collect, I can't wait :D

Good price :thumleft:

I've heard good things about Fensport and considored them myself. You should be in good hands. You know there's a few turbo kits around at the moment... dont you? Perfect time to plonk it on - especially a TD06 which will run on stock ecu / injectors all day long until you want to up the boost

Looking forward to seeing it all come together. The car looks awesome and very much deserve an engine to match.

Heard nothing but good things about YVS.

Its been tough enough scraping the cash together for the build,
I was bargaining on a big pay check due to not having any commission in
a while. Recieved none ... :( , but the boss has subbed me till next months
pay day when it comes through.

Otherwise I would have done it all at once, to be honest though I've had
limited driving with it running 320bhp and am just looking forward to getting it
back and blasting around in this weather he are having.

Car's back :D

Pretty big mission to get her though, I travelled up with the misses on Friday
morning and intended to get it and drive back the same day. However there
were a few things that made that difficult. 1 train from Tunbridge Wells to London Bridge,
then tube to Kings Cross, then Train to York and then train to
Sheburn In Elmet. Where we arrived at YVS Performance and met Simon face
to face for the first time.

Image

Saw George Lawton's and Jake's MR2's there ready for even more power !
Ive spoken with George over FB but don't know Jake, but both cars are
serious bits of kit !

Simon went over the run in procedure with me again, and after paying the man
we set off, made it 15 miles and had a call from him asking me to stop and
check if any water was coming out from the engine bay, as there was a puddle
where the car was sat !

Stopped and check an indeed there was. So spun around and headed back up
to YVS, turned out there was a failing jubilee clip on a water pipe going into
the heater matrix, an hour later and water levels checked and topped up, we
left Simon for the second time. Now safe in the knowledge everything was ok.
Glad he spotted it when he did.

Using google maps we planned the route to avoid motorways and I have to say
the app did a great job !. We were both very tired and about 2 hours into the
journey decided to stop in Peterborough at a premier in for the night.
Glad we did, woke top the next morning to sunshine as opposed to the dark
and cold that the previous night would have forced me to finish the last 4 hours
of B and occasional A roads in !

Smashed out the last leg with the roof off , staying out of boost and driving like
a granny through the gears and not keeping the revs constant in one area,
using engine braking etc. Got home and gave her a well needed wash !

Simon did offer, but being a bit of a detailer I'm pretty specific and like to do it
myself

Now I've done the recommended 300 mile run in procedure, its time to change
the run in oil for Fuchs Titan Pro Race R 10W 50 as previous and Toyota
filter, then Mapping is booked for 27th April with Fensport.

Looking forward to being able to hit BOOST !

Good stuff mate!

Man there's some serious power in that workshop!

My car is also booked in with YVS for a service & MOT and to sort a knocking that's developed on the front suspension when cornering.

Should be all sorted for Japfest :thumleft:

interesting, you stayed off boost? was that for the whole run-in period?

Different tuners have different advice, interested to hear what Simons is?

Hi Pal, yes. Well tried to the most I could, occasionally would get a little bit of spool and compressor surge.
But Simon removed the boost solenoid and advised that Fensport re-fit when they map. Also in a much better location as
he said Walton cable tied it in a bad place !

I can only assume it was because the map was causing DET and to stay out of any more of that is best !

Ahhhh yes, that makes sense.

Usually we're told boost boost boost but I think the key is just to not drive it like an old granny
