Definitely heading in the right direction with the Rev 2.

The Rev 5 on the other hand.

I've spent some time doing the thing I've been putting off for so long: Assessing and tackling the body rust.

.

It's the one thing I have zero interest in doing on cars.

It's by no means falling to bits, far from it.

However, based on what I've seen today it's become clear that it needs more than I have time to give it right now.

Especially with another MR2 being restored at the same time.

First up was the OS rear arch.

There was bubbling under the paint so I took the Dremel to it for a deeper look.

As it stood.

Post grind.

Kurust applied.

The outer sills need attention, the OS more than the NS.

The NS is actually solid, but is showing signs of starting to crmuble on the tyre facing edge.

This is the OS.

After some grinding, taking it back to solid metal.

Kurust applied everywhere!

Lower sill.

Only got this much off before I ran out of pads for the Dremel

It's enough to give me peace of mind that it really is mainly surface rust.

The metal is solid underneath, it just looks terrible!

Kurust applied.

This is where I ran out of time.

One thing it has confirmed in my mind is that the car is either going to be sold, or if it comes to it, broken.

I rather avoid the latter, as the wider car is still a beauty.

It really needs someone who acknowledges it will probably need one or both arches replacing and ultimately a respray.

With that it would be a stunner, I've just not got the time or drive to be that guy right now.

Rev 2 is quite enough for me right now.

What to do?!
