Glad you have changed the date as it was touch and go if my car will be ready. The 16th is fine with me and will give us a bit more time to arrange a meeting place. :D I will check out aa routefinder for any decent places.
Cheers for now!

Sorry, but I committed to this months and months ago, see this:

http://www.mr2mk1club.com/Don05.html

I've also posted it here on IMOC, in fact Alex (Hicks) has posted on it  , he's been to this event for the past four years, have a look! :

http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=17875

This has been on the Events Calendar for over three weeks now. I know a lot of people aren't fully aware of the Calendar, but it is very useful indeed. Please click here and you will see what I mean:

http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/calendar.p ... t=20050929

I would love to come but it clashes with a big Mk1Club event, that's all. Once a National Events Organiser is elected I am hoping that these clashes will no longer occur....

I wish you best of luck though if this is the definite date. If is isn't I will try and come.

Best regards, Tom

Hi Hicks & Spittinflames,
Does this event have to run on the 16th as there are no definates as yet and it would be pointless for only a couple of cars to turn up. This run is a fantastic idea and it would be worth holding out to get more interest/cars. I realise everyone has other commitments but if we could delay this event to towards the end of October then this will give people plenty of time to check diaries and organise other stuff around it. I am sure there will be a lot more interest if this can be posponed until then.
I can 99.9% (short of my car exploding!) make the 16th.However, posponing would give us a lot more time to plan stuff such as meeting and stopping places.
The run to the lakes meet, I think would have been better if I had taken a bit more time to plan the route and various stopping places, thanks to some very helpful members who posted my route up on a multimap so everyone could see it and found car parks to meet at :D (im too thick with that sort of thing)!
Anyway, no probs if the date cant be changed,I totally understand if you guys have other commitments. I will have another look on the mulimap site tonight to look for a decent meeting place anyway.
Cheers for now! :D

i have to say we probably should pospone this event. maybe turn it into something bigger with a longer route all the way through derbyshire and try different routes. i really dont like just driving to a car park then driving home which is why im not going to squires this time. what we could do with is a starting point but then several stop offs so people can meet up with later on if needs be. also might be worth while post on some other non mr2 related forums and starting a new club type thing just for this type of meet/events.

how about it blue/spittinflames?

p.s. i really want to go to donny kit car show may see if i can get on track as ive got a spare set of used rear tyres. although i need to get my exhaust sealed up properly and sort out some new front pads and discs.

I agree. We will have far more time to plan it and that means hopefully more members will be able to come. A drive through Derbyshire sounds great as it will be a longer route with much more to see and more stop offs.
I am pretty much free any Saturday or Sunday and any month but lets not delay it too much. Is the end of Oct ok, say the weekend of the 28th/29th and in the meantime routes and meeting places can be discussed and maps posted up.
There has probably been a lack of interest as Ive noticed that there are a couple of other events planned for the 16th that have been up for a while.
So to start with we need a starting point :?: Getting more clubs involved and different Jap cars is also a great idea,(your not thinking of saxos/novas/chavs though r u? #-o ) lol
Anyway is this date ok with you? :D

we have picked a bad time of the year to try and organise something weather wise but if we can have a good meet in oct then start planning bigger better meets towards spring and summer time. the last weekend in oct sounds good. could try and make an early start then stop off at several point maybe somewhere for some food and a drink?

deffinetly no chavs. we dont want nobs turning up driving like idiots spoiling it and risking peoples lives so only jap cars, preferably decent ones staying away from pulsars and civics. no disrespect to the cars but the owners tend to be chav heads.

I'm really up for this, being that I live only 10 minutes from Belper! And I love Derbyshire and know the roads like the back of my hand! (check my website, you'll see what I mean)

BUT I have Kit Car show at Donington 15th /16th Oct (which I committed to months ago) and Anglesey trackday 22nd / 23rd Oct (which I also committed to months ago).

So I probably won't be able to make your first meeting. However with a little more notice I will definitely be coming to the next one.

Please don't give up, it will be great fun! :P

(PS And make sure you take some photographs and post them up. I reckon that will get more people interested!)

What about SAT 29th or SUN 30th October, is this a good date for everyone?? Have a spare 1/2 day tommorow so I will check some maps for some meeting places, also as Ive been there on holiday a few times I have got some maps for specific areas and pubs etc. If everyone has a look at a map today/tommorow then a few meeting places and routes could be posted up by Monday. Just need a date confirmed.
Cheers :D

Blimey, I've just seen this and I'm really late to go out, and I'm at Driftworks at Silverstone tomorrow. So I've got to brief, my suggestions are:

Meet at a pub in Wirksworth, can't remember the name off the top of my head, will confirm Monday pm. Then extract part of this, which is an email I did to get to Tatton Park. Follow this route to Macclesfield, then I don't know, someone finish it off if you want:

I wrote:
Fantastic route to Tatton from a South Easterly direction.

If anyone’s interested here’s a route I’ve developed for getting from my house to Macclesfield (and then on to Tatton). It’s a fantastic route which is why I don’t mind going over to Mark Nias’s house to help him fix his car! I thought I’d send this so that if some of you are going in convoy and some people are getting frustrated they can press on ahead.

M1 North to Junction 26 A610.

Follow A610 towards Ripley. Keep on the A610 all the way past Ripley to the T-Junction at Ambergate.

Ignore the signpost telling you to turn right, turn left instead. A cricket pitch will now be on your right hand side.

Immediately after the cricket pitch turn right into a narrow lane. Stay on this road until you hit a staggered crossroads. Turn right.

Keep on that road until you reach a junction (a pub will be in front of you). THIS IS THE PUB I HAVE IN MIND Bear left (B5035) down the hill and into Wirksworth. Go over the old railway bridge and then look out for a junction on the right. There’s a kind of little monument thingy at the junction. Turn right (very sharp turn) and up the little street for a couple of hundred yards to another junction.

Turn right and then immediately left (I expect there’s a signpost - Middleton B5023) and head up the hill to Middleton. Keep on this road and eventually it drops steeply downhill and to a junction. Turn right and then you hit another junction almost immediately. Turn left onto the A5012.

Keep on this road until you hit a T-Junction. Turn right onto the A515 signposted Buxton. Carry on this road until you hit a set of traffic lights.

There are two left turns here. Take the second one. I think it’s called Macclesfield Road (B5059).

Carry on until you hit a set of traffic lights. Bear left signposted A537 Macclesfield and A53 Leek.

After a short distance you’ll see a petrol station on the left and shortly after is the junction to the right signposted A537 Macclesfield. Take this….

This is the famous Cat and Fiddle Road. There are speed camera signs up but I don’t think there are any (there weren’t last week). BUT there is often a police van with a speed camera in the car park at the Cat and Fiddle pub, so be careful! And watch out for some mad bikers as well, some of them are suicidal!

.....................................

Alex (Hicks), if you want to do this, you will be going A61 to Alfreton, then down A38 one junction, get off there and you may as well meet me at my house (only about 1 minute off A38).

Those coming from Staffordshire / Stoke / Stafford could also meet at my house. You could go A50 (very fast road) and then A38 (also very fast road).

Right I've just checked the events calendar, there's nothing going on on Saturday 29th October, so I'm going for that date

Return route could be A523 to Leek then Ashbourne, then cross-country again to Carsington Water, could stop off at the Visitors Centre, then back to Wirksworth........

I won't be on line again now until Monday am earliest, maybe pm, I'll tidy up all the details then.

Have a good weekend all...... :D

The pub is right in the centre of this map, just to the east of Wirksworth:
