Thanks Shinny, that's really helpful, need to sort out them this weekend. Can you get the 205 type to fit the front or would you stick with 195?

I guess you could go for 205/55/15s.. but that's not your issue. The issue with standard wheels is finding a decent set of rear tyres. Very few brans still make 225/50/15s and many that do are ditchfinders. (MR2s do not respond well to cheap rubber)

Yes............. noticed got my lingo a little mixed up there, but trust you guys as I never really know what I'm up to with the technical stuff. Toy's on the back are basically still new as hardly use the thing but changing the fronts and ordered T1 R 195's as "requested" by Shinnny :D

I'd probably go 205/50R15 if I wanted to go wider on stock wheels, as I'd rather lose 5mm of sidewall than gain 5mm!

As you said though, ultimately a bit pointless as it's rear tyre choice that's the issue these days. Toyo T1R is pretty much the only semi-reasonable road tyre choice!

Sidewall sizes:
195/55 = 195*0.55 = 107.25mm
205/55 = 205*0.55 = 112.75mm (+5.5mm)
205/50 = 205*0.50 = 102.5mm (-4.75mm)

Interesting! I wouldn't immediately have expected the 205/50 was a closer match. However you are right, it's better to give the car more rake than less (ie. lower the front, not raise it) so I'll agree with you in this specific case :thumleft:

In fact, come to think of it, the secondhand R888s I have are exactly that configuration!

Indeed. The other thing to consider is one manufacturers 205/50 may be slightly bigger or smaller than another manufacturers 205/50!
