Hi dude, hard to argue given the price.
I need to have a think and weigh up what I'm after.

I got the cf scoops and cf rev5 side caps, test fitted, but just not sure.

Bit more progress yesterday.
Got the VHT wrinkle paint and primer delivered and got to work given this a go.
Very pleased with the results and not a bad colour match to azure blue.
Primer, 3 differing spray angles of the wrinkle paint and 20mins in the oven at 90c seems to have worked fine.

Also found some enamel laquer to work with the Hammerite silver and given all of the inlet mani and connecting parts a coat.

Test piece, this is the fuel rail cover plate

Bits from Toyota also showed up

Image

New bolt set for inlet mani, cam cover and a bunch of spares for other areas I plan to use with a nice shiney bolt

Image

My 1/8bsp stainless barb fittings also are here ready to be fitted in the inlet mani as I plan to run a few vac pipes differently with a few green hoses!
I've also either removed and cut down a number of brackets so will give the engine even more of a more minimalist feel!

Image

Question, is this dizzy/cam cap ok to remove by itself?? Thinking of trying to give it a clean/paint as it looks horrid. May even do the same with the dizzy itself

Edges cleaned for the new gasket

That blue crackle paint looks lovely! 8)

Removing the outer bearing cap shouldn't cause you any issues, but maybe worth rotating the cam on that side so the valves are closed on cylinder closest to it to reduce any force on the camshaft.

(dumb question, but just checking)

Looks great Jim. Not keen on the green hoses though. Black would look much better (imo).

bare in mind most of my vac hosing is actually gone, so we are only talking half a dozen or so small lines.
i wanted to try something a little different as i have green tein strut braces (as well as tein green coilovers/arbs and as well as my dash/gauge lighting being green etc).

if i dont like it i can always try blue or black as you say.

ive been running around with a black/silver bay for ages, so wanted to crazy it up a little.

well i tried to give those torx bolts a try by the dizzy, bloody shallow, and to cut a long story short, got to the point where they wanted to round off.

hassle i could deal without, so just going to clean them up in situ.
the dizzy itself ill remove and clean up another time i think.

only a minor update, everything is all sprayed, laquered, all ready for refitting!
ive spend alot of time cleaning up the inside of the manifold, also wet sanding the matting surfaces on all the bits and inlet side of the head.
i decided to also spray up the fuel rail, map sensor bracket and while i was at it, the strut brace tabs.

also have my injectors back, cleaned and flowed test with all new orings from MrInjector.
very happy with the service. :thumleft:

was noted at higher duty cycles some pump a tad more more fuel than others, so i will be giving those leaner cylinders the injectors with the higher flow.

the injectors i removed, someone, i dont know who, installed crappy ill fitting orings on the bottom of the inside of the rail!!! they were mashed and clearly the wrong size.
the top and bottom orings are ment to be identical!!

completely wrong fit!!
Image

guess which is OEM and the correct size, and guess which are some weird cut offs! [-X [-X

Image

flow results

Image

also decided to give the back of the bay a clean before the manifold goes back in (still need to clean around it though, ha!)

Image

all in all, a very time consuming job, as i am a little OCD with these things.

good work there mate, the blue wrinkle paint looks awesome, was it UK sourced? I've got plenty of the black stuff in my garage but have never seen blue for sale

Cars back together and driveable, everything still runs great.
But still not got round to everything as of yet, as more you clean/paint, the more you find that isnt!
But these parts I can easily do as and when and won't put the car out of action for long.
I also have plans for a small wire tuck.

Anyways, shame I missed JAE, it crept up at the wrong time :-(

Anyways onto pictures
I decided to paint a number of other parts while I was at it, my FPR, fuel rail and strut tower plates, more will be added to list later on.

Rail with my newly clean and flow tested injectors along with new orings

Also decided to give the cap a paint!

Decided to cover the brake booster line completely!
