Wow well i'm pretty sure you could get one from Toyota UK. But I should imagine the postage costs horrendous.

Ah yes. Sadly it is around that time. Last time I tried to get parts I was told that they were no longer being produced. :? You might be able to get old stock. But i'm afriad you might be looking more towards getting one from a breaker. I did have a breaker a little while ago but scapped it with the tank in simply because it was too much of a pain to remove.

if it's not too badly rusted then you could probably use something like petseal or por15 or similar if it's available in india

I've not heard of this in the UK, Europe or US, not from the inside anyway.

Without wishing to offend, is it a likely result of poorer grade fuels in India?
If so, it will happen again and I wonder if you could put any sort of coating inside to protect it from happening again?

I have heard that if you leave the car sitting for a long time with a small amount of fuel in the tank then it will catch rust.
My car came with a rusted tank and fuel pump when i bought it.

This has not happened with any other car that i have owned not even my 14 year old DD.

I dont know how effective this will be and i've been told the rust always reappears after some time as has happened with my car.

Rust will always appear eventually this is the bain of all mild steel. Por15 will seal it for a while. You're probably best looking for a breaker in India.

There are probably a total of 100 MR2's in my cuntry so i will have to buy the tank from either the U.K. or the U.S.

you could also try hong kong - closer to you and has a big "JDM" scene, or japan, or australia / NZ. sourcing a tank will be easy, finding someone willing to ship one may be harder. it may even be cheaper to have a rectangular tank fabricated in your own country. as it wouldn't take a fabricator too long (probably a day?) and I imagine labour costs aren't too bad.

how about some pics of your car too?

Do you think it will be possible to fabricate a tank as it is very odd shaped and there are also the valves and fittings that go into it?

Cant post pics here but heres a link :) http://postimg.org/my.php?gallery=31idula10

It is possible to fabricate anything given the time and expense.
