Thankyou, glad you like it, not sure about sexual, so try not to "like" it too much :D

I'm off to Croft circuit today to throw it around for a couple of laps, a motoring journo has booked the track for a photo shoot and is writing a book on the history of the Mr2 and my car is being included as the pinnacle of what can be done to a Mk1, looking forward to it.

Car mounted cameras at the ready!

Well not a bad day, but could have been better, the Auto x has just been on at Croft so the track was covered in mud on several corners, so we couldn't have a good go. The photoshoot went very well though, we only had 5 Mr2s attend, two Mk1s, two Mk2s and a Mk3, all of which will be in the book which is due out later next year.

I'll post pics of the day later.

Shame we didn't get more attending, but Wednesday afternoon in November is a crap time! The motoring Journo writing the book turned up in a gorgeous 370z he was roadtesting, the Nismo version.

Due to the mud on the circuit we only got 2 laps, but a worthwhile day.

The book is due for release next year.

Vix saw them asking for cars for this on Facebook. Would have been nice to take the sprint car up for it but realistically there was no way I would have gone that far in midweek for it particularly as I have no tow car at present so would have had to drive it up.

Croft's a lovely circuit though, done it with TSS for the last 3 years now. you should come along next season if you fancy a proper crack at the track ;)

Definitely up for that, we got a taste of it today, previously i'd only ever been around Croft in a recovery truck rescuing stricken cars, i used to help provide trackday assistance there when i worked for Fred Henderson. It was a real shame the track was muddy today, so i'd love a propler blat at it sometime.

Just read through the whole of this project and it is stunning. If mine looks 1/10 as good as this i'm a happy man. Looking forward to reading more.

As part of my 2014 upgrades on the car, i spent time today fabricating my bespoke Supercharger belt idler setup, using Goukys mount on the 2gr leaves no route for the belt to run back to the crank, which you kinda need! This is not the fault of the mount, which is excellent, just a case of the Mr2 having a different mounting arrangement than the Evora.

I designed this pulley setup last year but only now followed it through. The smaller smooth surface pulley and its bracket are from a Renault clio, it was the smallest pulley i could find to sit in that very confined area, the good news is it had a couple of very well placed bolt holes that just happened to be in the right place for the 2gr engine... sometimes the swap gods just smile upon you.

The 7 rib pulley beneath that is from a Landrover Discovery TD5, a very heavy duty item, luckily its spacer also provided the correct offset to align it with the 2gr pulleys. I then made a stub that i tig welded onto the mount which grabs the pulley from the front as well as the rear.... over engineering, i love that xxxx. I've also welded spacer blocks to the mount to leave that 25mm further from the block.

So there we go, this will allow my SC belt to run behind the mount and will give me a factory belt wrap circumference around the crank pulley. I have to reroute the 2gr VVti oil feed line (Evora item looks correct) and order a custom belt. This whole set up will mean i have to redo all of my engine mounts, but i had to do this anyway with the impending 6 speed gearbox upgrade which will be covered later this year.

This setup will fit my car and my car only, it cannot be used on a Mk2 or Mk3 unless the 6 speed was also used.

My engine will be coming back out in a month or so for this Supercharger upgrade.

Well with my new idler setup in place and the new custom belt fitted it all looks very good apart from the clearance between the belt and rear head, it clears, but i'm not happy with the amount, if the belt flaps it's going to catch (red circle)

Now i could shave the head a little in this area and it would be fine, but i went looking for a thin roller idler all the same to see if i can guide the belt away. I found the perfect idler on a Subaru Impreza....

Image

£23 from Ebay and is an uprated item over stock with double bearings instead of single.

Image

This will sit where the green circle is and make the belt routing the yellow line, that also gives me a few more degrees of supercharger pulley wrap.... i'll need to make a mounting bracket for it but it will make things perfect.

In preparation for the Impreza idler roller arriving i made the support bracketry for it, this bolts into the engine block and supercharger to provide a rock solid mounting point for the idler.

A mock up of where the idler will sit and new belt route.

i love the fact you can't stop developing what is already a credit too you.

I know the V8 was a great technical exercise but as an Mr2 specialist this really is an amazing showcase for you.
