The Snap-on ones do come up on eBay for a sensible price *very* occasionally. I finally picked one up earlier in the year after at least 2-3 years of keeping my eye out for one.

There are 6 different models to keep an eye out for that are suitable:

TE1A, TEC1A, TER1A, TE1FUA, TEC1FUA, TER1FUA

Any will do but they all have slight differences

TE1A is the basic model with an imperial scale only (1/4" drive, 0-15inlb)

The 'C' models adds a metric scale as well
The 'R' models have a metric scale and are higher accuracy (guaranteed +/- 1% rather than the std 2%)
The 'FU' models have an extra needle which holds the peak torque figure to save you having to eyeball it whilst applying torque.

There are also some equivalent models with a 3 instead of a 1 that are 0-30inlb which you could probably use at a push but you're better off with the lower range one.

Yes pretty old news but when I asked noone make me 100% sure that trd sw211 fits directly in the e51 case also noone made me 100% sure that the shafts of the non lsd gearbox fits and works fine with this type lsd group. I only tried to help somenone that will make this mod in the future with my experience. Also this is a clutch type mechanical lsd and not viscous, I really don't know but I think that mk2 rev is equipped with viscous and not clutch type so the react of the lsd is not the same, also no choises of make this 1 or 1,5 or 2 way like clutch type, also no way to change cams to make it angrier. And the worst is that mk2 lsd needs lsd left tulip and lsd right shaft. And ok everyone can find the left lsd tulip from ml2 but noone can find the lsd right axle, even if someone can find this, this will be very expensive. So it have to be machined, but when I asked for, noone answerd me about the measurements of the machining job. In conclusion, maybe they are old news but I tried about to months to retrive infos for this mod and very few thing I found so I disassembly my tranny having in mind that at last I will asemmbly this back to oem if the lsd didn't fit. I give these info for the next who would like to make this mod.

Nice work doing it all yourself, to be honest it's nobodies fault for not helping you, some people will keep quiet if they aren't 100% sure, which i actually approve of rather than guessing. Forum misinformation is a personal bugbear of mine, and it hangs around on a Google search forever, then gets regurgitated and repeated like Gospel.

So well done for doing it yourself, i already knew all of the above, but that's just because the Mr2 is my lifes work, it will no doubt help others looking to do the same thing :thumleft:

My friend Paul,

I didn't claim for not helping me, I only refer all these infos to help someone that wants to make this upgrade in the future not to show my knowledges, I really don't know everything and for this reason I asked for help, its a pain to take the tranny out,you know this very well, its a very heavy gearbox and its somehow tricky to take this out, I took the risk of taking this out and disassembly this without been sure if the lsd group fits inside. Also most of the feedback and google search make me think that it only fits on the rev2 and later mk2 because of the right half shaft.I aksed gently from you, for your knowledges help but you never respond me, no problem with this, you didn't like to do this and noone can claim you, but it is not gently and I cannot see this positive when I make my knowledge public to come and write again and again that you knew all of these, almost noone said that you don't, but its not gently, its like having the fear that someone will tell you that you don't have the knowledge.

I always speak friendly, but English is not my mother language so I don't know if what I'm writing sounds like claiming you, keep in mind that I speeak always friendly.
