Low MR2's

Post by projectprelude »

Hi

Years ago there was an MR2 knocking about on hydraulic suspension. The NV grey one.

Anyway I noticed that on full drop it wasn't that low. No lower than a car on springs or coilovers.

I just wondered if any of you knew what would in theory stop an MR2 from basicly sitting on the floor? For example if it was on hydraulics or air suspension why couldn't it sit on the floor like some cars can?

Cheers

I can't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to drop it to the ground on air suspension :-k

I think generally people probably don't do it to mr2s for fear of destroying the quality of handling too much. A lot of mr2 owners focus more on improving handling and speed than going for pure looks.

I presume your looking to drop your car to as low as it will go?
Any set up that your looking at?

:-k

Just curious really as there is a guy in europe whos fitted air but hes only done it to raise it for speed bumps, its not low.

He's also heard "rumours" that the MR2 can't be dropped very low and after hearing that and seeing the one on hydros i was just wondering if there was something stopping it being done.

I would have thought that its just because no one has publicly done it, not that it can't be done... I can't see why the MR2 would be any different than any other car, especially if dropped back down onto 14 or 15" wheels.

I might be wrong though

There are quite a few very low cars in the states, but I think they're all static. I suppose one reason for not being able to go to the floor could be the lack of space above the front arch lip. That's more of a question than a statement though

Is it not for reasons like the driveshafts catching body parts? My mates mk1 golf did this on coil overs but then he didnt have equal length shafts and it was the longer shaft that rubbed.
