At Long Last.... Pistols 1.5 swap

Found my air leak sorted temp till I get a proper bung (missed a hole on intake manifold)
New air flow meter fitted
And still won't start grrrrrrrrrrrr

Changing fuel filter tomorrow as it has a small dent in it and get some more fuel for it then see what happens

Hi all
It runs!!!!!!!!!!!! and runs well!!!!!
there is something silly wrong iwth it..
been chasing it all day put a couple extra earths on still no joy. Patrick turns up checks the king lead spark (its there).. then it decides it runs..

and it ran perfectly!!!!
Patrick roughly timed it by ear, i checked it later with a gun and he was spot on perfect!

it then ran fully up to temp with no leaks idled perfectlym turned off started straight away, and several times after that
tried a min ago and back to original problem would not start, checked had a spark, but still no joy again
patrick did get a belt off one of the leads (sorry) and heard a slight miss that sounded like plugs..

so want to order new plugs and leads to ilimiate them, its gotta be something really silly..

Ordering new igniter and coil Monday
As it runs okay with odd cough so going for it breaking down the spark

well it stopped working again last night.. and with the leads being brand new as well as the plugs. Patrick said maybe to coil letting go under pressure when trying to run the engine
so i had a look and it was covered in silicon
peeled that off and found this..





do we think this si the issue??.. oh i do hope so...
getting a new one tonight...

Looks like it previously caused issues in the wet, was temporarily fixed but never replaced. I'd imagine that's your culprit right there.

the coil when measuring isn't any better than my current one..
so now have a brand new one ordered as well as a new bracket...

also just got price for custom exhaust which i am pretty happy with, kels said i can have it....
may have exhuast next week
all the parts should arrive wednesday.. i really hope it sorts it..

on a more positive note..
got the under trays back on small job i have been meaning to do
also Kurust all seals just to make sure then anti rust paint on them to stop any starting..

Well got my new coil pack today
Put that on with the new bracket from Toyota
Tried all excited and nope
Still didn't want to run
So checked the spark still orange grrrrrr not strong enough

So has to be something
Started looking at everything measuring continuity
All seemed find
And just as a test the ecu goes on a plate which then onto body
Measured 0.1 ohm
But hey go bung an extra earth off ecu to battery to try something else

And my petrol gauge started working
Turned the key
And fired straight away!! Been running perfect ever since
