Post by Delgado-Go! »

Gona do the folding mirrors mod on my rev5 tubby. Mine is a GTS so I'm wondring do I need to replace the door looms?

I got the folding mirrors (duh), black relay box and the door control.

Hoping it;s gona be unplug the old mirrors, plug in new mirrors, plug in relay box and plug in door control and done. Is it :?:

Dash looms generally need to be replaced on UK cars but not UK cars for that mod I believe. Worth double checking that though.

I believe that the door looms need to be replaced on any UK or JDM car that doesn't have this as standard.

Thanks. I saw that guide in the knowledge base. But just wondered if maybe on the newer revs the looms had whatever is missing for the foldy bit.

I don't think so but I'm not 100%
Easy way to find out is to whip off your door cards quickly and have a gander :thumleft:

Adding folding mirrors to a JDM car:
- Folding mirrors (obviously)
- Drivers door window control unit
- Retract control unit (black box)
- Door looms from a JDM that had folding mirrors

Adding folding mirrors to a UK car:
- Folding mirrors (obviously)
- Drivers door window control unit
- Retract control unit (black box)
- Connector plug for retract control unit
- Speaker wire or similar to run from the mirror to the retract control unit

Can I just check - when you say door looms you mean the bit that is part of the door, has small bung that connects to between the door and the body AND plugs into the socket in the footwell.

NOT

a loom that runs in behind the dash and to the relay control box

Just about to buy some so need to check I'm buying the right thing!

That's right, it's the looms inside the doors that need changing.

Chris has already answered, yes.

Also, you may not have seen in the Knowledge Base, but Chris has done a guide specifically for JDM cars :thumleft:
