Looking good Pete. When it's dropped in it will look awesome. :)

All the extra work now means you'll not sit thinking "I wish I'd just done...." once it's finished :thumleft:

Any finish date in mind, or just playing it by ear?

ohh update time
on lates this week so can get quite a bit done
todays up dates..
I managed to do the job i have not been looking forward to at all
Fuel pump and then getting the tank back in..

First off new fuel sender (after breaking it taking the tank out)
Out with the old
Image
In with the new
Image

Also New 255 Pump fitted
Image

Then got the tank in on me own (joyus fun)
Image

all breather lines etc etc connected back up just the filler line to do which i feel is going to be a pain
Image

also many thanks to headcase on 2brutal for my new engine mounts he dropped to me at work last night
Image
Image

also after the weekend got the mounts out, little grinding down left to do, will prob leave that to my fabriator friend who is much better at it than me
Image
Image

tomorrow will see a new throttle cable and maybee the boot-engine bay hoel removed..

Do i need to cut off the knob sticking out off the cross under the fuel tank, front middle of engine bay (hope that makes sense) used to be part of the front support engine mount

cheers

So how do you remove a hole? I've never mansged to pick one up yet...

Would removing a hole mean filling it in? :-k

Well after my fabricator can't do it for a few weeks and i really want to crack on with this,
and a few lessons from the welder at work this week, thought well why not, at least i can say i done everything (with a fair bit of phone call help) over the project

Its not perfect, i am currently making the top hat strengthers at work, and i have not fulley welded all in yet as ran out of gas,
its defo not pretty but its definatly penetrated, guy at work looked at pics, agrees its not pretty (thats what seam sealer is designed for) but its penetrated. so im happy, just a bit more on monday to finish off

first was clean up and fill the holes

holes filled

Image

then the jig was in and mounts put in place
Image

still got to go up the back but tacked there for now, but the bottom is welded nice and strong
Image
Image

these ones are just there at the mo (ran out of gas), chassis welded on one side of each
Image

Not perfect but its defo there and not going anywhere(dont think to bad as this first week i have done it)

Just a bit more to do now

Can't wait to get this on the road

Excellent progress Pete- and good on you for getting the welder out and having a go- there really is only one way to get good and that's to practice practice practice!

Well very very pleased
Engine loom was done today
Was done by sileck Motorsport wiring and me
Took the loom round to Simon and what a superb job
All new battery wiring alternator wiring
No solder joints and no horrible connections in the bay
Used new wiring he has all the tools to take the pins out the plugs all new pins so new wires in the n1 ecu plug and the cor relay
Pulled the cables back through the loom from the white plugs to the boot loom where the were put on new plugs and connected were needed
So full plug and play
Very pleased

Only thing found looking on the old loom compared to my new one is I have actually got a rev 2 engine
But a rev1 loom but all seemed to connect through ok and the correct connections made for a rev 2

Pics later

here are the pics, bit hard to get pics of a free standing loom but will get better ones when installed on the car..
from the engine bay mk2 white plugs now pulled back in plugs to the n1 and ECu plug etc
Image

cables not needed removed properly too see what is actually needed and old cables replaced (some colours changed but noted what they now are)
Image
Image

alternator plug extended and new spades inside the plug with new alternator main also the old cable completly removed for new one going to battery then from battery to starter, and starter to main car power new as well..
Image

like said will get better pics when installed but done really really well
