'90, and think the time has come to get my first Mk3. I have found a Sable '04 which is looking promising, but i must admit i know very little about the Mk3. 
So much so that I sold the mk2 tubby and turbo'd the mk3. I just find that the mk3 is a lot more fun on the twisties when we go out for a blast 
Still love the looks of the Mk2 and relative practicality but will be hard to justify both to the g/f

Conversion cost is about
(a Red edition, totally standard apart from calipers painted red) to sit beside my old rev1 mk2 for about 3 yrs now.(simply lighter and better balanced) in the twisty bits I'd have to say I'm not so sure it's quite so well made nor with the lack of luggage space could I say it could be our only car. Even a big supermarket shop is problematic and anything more than a w/e away requiring a degree of luggage likewise. ..'Red' edition, called a few to view and they have been sold, although still showing on Autotrader 
The red roof and leather does it for me. Your right about the plastics though very hard compared to the mark2 and look to scratch more easily. Cheap hooning... Few cars car match it on that count.
