Best place to get cancer bars?

Mine are still in good nic but have a very small amount of surface rust on one of them

I figured that rather than rubbing them done and spraying them up I may as well invest in some new ones

Anywhere online sell direct oem replacements?

karl if its just surface rust please dont buy new - 3 months of use and they'll look the same

just sand back and hammerite

My thoughts are that it looks like surface rust but until I take them off I cant be certain. Ideally im looking to build a brand new mr2, hence why everything is getting replaced on it, and I have no idea how old these are.

Your car is only as strong as it weakest component and with a whole suspension change this and the arb will be the weakest part.

If I replace them my new ones wont get the same any time soon. The car never goes out in rain, and lives in a garage under a cover. Ive probably only done around circa 200 miles in it this year as Im trying to get it all new

fair enough mate - just they make no difference and you dont see them

i got full set and new bolts on my rev3 from mr t - pass side was touch harder to fit but with jack/axle stands accomplishable. i then sold it and have a rev5 with them in vgc

Mine rotted from the inside out so they might be more rotten than they look, try taking them off and give them a shake, listen for how much loose rust is inside them.

I bought some Ultra racing ones from EBAY were only £70 for the pair, much cheaper than Toyota prices and a lot more substantial and better quality than the original crimped bits of tin!

How essential are these ‘cancer bars’ ? mine are a little rough looking I was thinking of just binning them, they look so weak and flimsy I can’t see they’d be doing much even when not rusty, if they really are required then surely it would make more sense to fabricate something more substantial that would actually contribute to shell stiffness

budd - some people do remove these when they rot out. Personally I wouldn't - if they weren't essential they wouldn't be on the car. If memory serves correct they are there are stabilise the car during sharp corners

they add a little bit of chassis strength in the engine bay to stop the chassis twisting under extreem cornering. A decent strut brace will do this just fine.

They do a little but they aren't positively absolutely required.

Found the ultra racing ones on a different website? But they we circa £75 excluding delivery, and looked identical other than the fact that they were white and had writing on (neither of which I wanted, lol)

I figure if I'm going this far with the suspension and braking components, why not ensure I cover all bases

And unfortunately Toyota dealers are independent and so unless I'm wrong can pretty much charge what they want
