I'm pleased that this has spurred you on to do some work with your car :thumleft:

Its always nice to hear that someone is encouraged by my work :D

I dropped into the bodyshop the other day and took a few quick photos. He has done the full respray, he just has to refit the bonnet and sort out the sills. He is hoping to have it all sorted this coming week, which will mean it will be ready for the meet on the 7th :D

Image

Image

Image

Image

Also looking at finishing the underbody sealing
I have therefore decided to make my life easier by buying these:

Image

Also bought this to help with the hard to reach places:

Image

Bought this to help fit the wind deflectors ... Anti-mould and transparent makes it perfect :thumleft:

Image

Finally for this micro update I have bought this lol

Image

Roll on end of next week when the car should be back with me :D

Oh .. before I forget I have also bought some goodies from Phil (Magic Beans) ... so part of The Mule will live on in my car :thumleft:

Photos will be posted when I get my delivery :D

Just on the look out for a few select parts to get my car to where I want it to be cosmetically :thumleft:

Fabulous

I don't think OEM+ does it justice. That paintwork is better than the day it left the factory :thumleft:

Beware of the little bit of Mule being in there. It could spread and you'll end up with a car which tries to kill you at every opportunity

Thanks bud - hopefully it will be tucked away in my garage again soon

I can't wait to finish off the suspension swap and fit all the bits I've been steadily collecting :D

I'm not worried about the part of the Mule trying to kill me - you forget that EOR set itself alight with me inside before! lol. I guess our cars were seperated at birth! lol

Well the other day I had a small section of JDM goodness delivered :thumleft:

They are like new. I was well chuffed!!!

Image

Unfortunately I'm not sure that I will be able to ever put them in my car as my dog has become more than attached to them and now sleeps on them. I feel I may have a fight on my hands, lol...

Image

I guess I'll be buying a different set in another design at some stage aswell :thumleft:

Well today the day has come .......

I picked up my car in my lunch break today :thumleft:
I am very happy with it and can't wait to be able to afford for the rear bumper and rear boot to be resprayed

The paintwork is awazing, and as Phil will be able to say - is very smooth and silky to the touch :D

The bodyshop guy wasn't convinced on drilling up into the front bumper to fit the numberplate due to the type of material. He was concerned that it would flex, or just fall out later down the line.

For the time being I have cable tied the number plate with white cable ties to the main centre beam in the front bumper. This was going to be a temporary measure whilst I worked out exactly what to do with the plate, ie. relocate, self-adhesive, etc... although its starting to grow on me and I think it might be left like this! Theres no instrusive screws or marks into the bumper and so it can stay faultless, plus its a minimal look... :-k

Anyways, less of the ramblings - here is the car as it stands before I start to put my goodies on it (that will be Thursday as thats my next rest day :thumleft:)

The rot that was cut out of the sill that hadn't been replaced:

Image

Image

New sills on both sides have been fabricated and welded in. They have then been smoothed out and new weatherproofing has been fitted both sides.

Needless to say - both sills are now immaculate - I will post pictures of it shortly

And the spray job:

Image

Image

Image

Image

Note that all of the panel gaps are now perfect aswell
And finally the headlight panels sit correct :D

Image

All in all a good day :D

Roll on Thursday when I can start to put on all my newly purchased parts
Hoping that the part from Phil is also going to be with me on Thursday to fit, which will be a great .. and then fingers crossed that the bigger purchase from him will be end of the month :D

The car is going to come on in leaps and bounds so watch this space

More photos will need to be taken ... and I also need to re-adjust the n/s windscreen wiper again for some unknown reason, lol.

Well chuffed :thumleft:

It's done and looking great! Really pleased for you, as it's been a long time coming \:D/

It does mean the start of a new life, as someone who's obsessed about keeping paintwork immaculate though 8-[

I've got the same issue as you regarding the front plate. It's a shame to tarnish the front end, however needs must. It's just a matter of finding the most aesthetically pleasing position whilst keeping your co-workers happy

Thank bud :thumleft:
My car never gets parked near others in car parks anyway, and is always kept under a cover in the garage and only taken out in the dry ... So I'm sure the paintwork won't be hard to keep immaculate! Lol

Tell me about it - the police can be a pain sometimes, lol. I'd love to not have a front plate, and tbh I don't understand why it's a legal requirement anyway as you can never clock the front VRM. But still ... Mine is not to question why! Lol

I'm happy with the plate position but I'm also pleased that I have the flexibility of moving it without damaging the paintwork :D

Thanks mate - I'm so chuffed with it.

There will be plenty of changes to it tomorrow when I have rest days and can properly get my hands on it!!! :thumleft:

I've sent you a pm with the ever growing list of parts to fit ... I can't be letting the cat out of the bag and tell everyone :-$ Lol

I thought that delivery companies merely lost packages and overcharged people ... They actually deliver parcels??? :-k lol

We need to get our cars together at some stage - would be a good photo opportunity :thumleft:

Well I am midway through the day and so its time for lunch, so I thought I'd post up a few pics of what I've been up to so far today :thumleft:

Well I started small today with the keyring, lol:

Image

I then took the wind deflectors outside and started to line them up and fix them back:

Image

It took a bit of fiddling and patience in order to get them fitted into the rain gutters correctly:

Image

They then had a liberal coating of silacone inside and were secured to the car properly to ensure they didn't fly off mid drive

Image

Image

Image

Image

I'm a fan of how they look - suits the car brilliantly :thumleft:

Image

Image

I then attacked the other side in the same manner:

Image

Image

Image

I keep promising to post up picstures of both of the new sills inside and out, so here they are:

Image

Image

Image

Image

I then put the new mats in ... a bit of JDM goodness :D

Image

Image

Image

Image

I know that the wheels are filthy, but I fitted the centre caps to the rear
BEFORE

Image

AFTER

Image

It just finishes it off a bit better I think :D

I then wanted to get rid of the huge tax disc holder which was placed there by the windscreen company. I'm not a fan of free advertising or big tax disc holders

Image

Image

And replaced:

Image

Image

I am currently on the look out for a new JDM tax disc holder :thumleft:

When I was stood back admiring the new tax disc holder I became increasingly annoyed with the windscreen wiper arm which needed adjustment.

So it quickly got adjusted leaving it now looking like this

Image

I then started to fit the master brake cylinder stopper, which was a little fiddly! lol

Image

Part way through fitting:

Image

Image

And fully fitted:

Image

I then took another opportunity to photowhore! lol

Image

Image

Image

When fitting the break stopper I noticed that the front strut bar was a little marked, so I dug out the autosol and cleaned it up. You can tell that the car hasn't been with me a couple of months as it isn't brilliantly clean everywhere! lol

BEFORE

Image

Image

AFTER

Image

Image

The passenger side door light stopped working just before the car got dropped in for a respray. And so I decided to replace this:

BEFORE

Image

NEW PARTS FITTED

Image

Image

Its now tucked away in the garage whilst Jack makes his way down to me so that we can attack the next stage of today's work :thumleft:

Great job :thumleft:

With regards to your number plate and the legallity of it, I have had mine stuck on the front bumper for the last 4 years and never had a problem or question raised about it. It has also passed every mot with it. I think the sticker option looks better imo. Ive probably just jinxed myself now though!

Mine is going to the garage for MOT repairs tomorow, welding on the sills in the same place as yours.

Your car must be in showroom condition by now! :D

Well this afternoon was very productive, although unfortunately the heavens opened and so both Jack and I got a little wet! lol

We attacked a job that I've wanted to do for ages - we finished the front suspension and checked over all of the relevant components/fittings (it was a little rushed last time)

So we started on the driver side and took the suspension strut out

Image

Image

I then waxoyled the wheel space (I've already done the rears)

Image

Image

The main reason for taking the suspensin out was to replace the top bezel cups with brad new ones, which I didn't have last time (I forgot to order them before #-o )

Anyway here is the original top bezel cup from the driver side (in relatively good condition although the section which locks into the main suspension was chewed and not gripping properly)

Image

This got replaced with a brand new one :thumleft:

Here it is with the new one fitted:

Image

Image

This got put back securely and all of the fixings checked. It resulted in a brilliant as new finish :D

We then moved onto the passenger side in order to attack it in the same manner:

Image

Image

The passenger side is the one that I've been getting the knocking from, and the bezel cup was well and truly shot!! I'll let the photos do the talking;

Image

Image

It had holes and cracks all through it and wasn't gripping to the suspension as it should. Needless to say this was well past its sell by date, and being the only bit of the suspension on the front which hasn't been replaced it needed doing!!!

Image

Image

The rain really picked up by this stage and so I didn't take photos of the new one I replaced it with or the unit fitted. I will endeavour to take some pics tomorrow :thumleft: Anyways, it the same as the other side, with all suspension parts being brand new. It all fits perfectly :D

Then came a bit of an upgrade courtesy of Jack (another Gucci part from Jack will be arriving hopefully arriving in the next few weeks :D )

Image

Old:

Image

New vs Old:

Image

New parts fitted:

Image

Image

Following all this work today I only need to bleed all of the brakes again, then I can set about taking it for a spin and enjoy the new suspension on the front :D

Can't wait to fit the rears now! lol.

I think thats enough car work for one day, never fear though theres plenty more to come tomorrow :thumleft:

Well I started today with these being delivered :thumleft:

I've been on the lookout for a set for ages and very pleased with them :thumleft:

Image

Image

I gave them a clean up and then set about fitting them - it sounds far easier than it was in reality! lol

Before:

Image

During:

Image

After:

Image

Image

Image

From a distance:

Image

And then the other side:

Image

Image

Image

Image

I am very chuffed!! :thumleft:

I then set about a full brake bleed (I only did a quick one last time in order to get the car to it's mot)

This took me roughly 45 minutes and I bled each caliper 3 times, in order; keeping the fluid well topped up at all times:D

Image

I then took her for a 2 hour drive and it put a big smile on my face!!!
The brakes are ridiculous, and even compete with my brand new car. The car is a whole different beast now! I'm a little scared to do the rear brakes aswell as I will end up getting whiplash every time I touch the brakes! lol.

Hopefully a few more updates to follow later today :-k
The car does need to be cleaned but I can't bring myself to do it today, lol.
