1994 MR2 Rev3 T-Bar Goodwood Green N/A VGC FSH £600

Post by d4v3 »

Hi everyone, I'm a bit of a lurker on this forum as I've hardly used the MR2 in the past couple of years and I just haven't really had the need to come on here. Anyway, the time has come to sell so here it goes...

I bought her three years ago to replace my previous MR2 after it was written off by a twit in a Rangerover. After a couple of months ownership, I took the car to 3S Service Centre who did a full vehicle inspection and advised me to replace the following; Front brake discs, pads and calipers, Front balljoints and droplinks. After these items were replaced, the car was given a clean bill of health and provided me with trouble-free motoring for the next six months untill I started university.
I wasn't allowed to keep a car on campus so I stuck it in my parents garage and only used it when I came home at weekends. I didn't want to sell her since I knew how hard it would be to find such a good example again, so I kept her in the garage untill I had time to use her again. However, the parents now want their garage back and I could do with the money rather than a car that I can't drive so she's up for sale.

1994 Rev3 T-Bar G-limited Non turbo in Goodwood Green - I think, correct me if im wrong
Imported in 1998
MOT untill Feb 2013
No TAX
117k miles (approx 40k of these were km before the car was imported)
Full service history
Part leather seats
Electric windows and mirrors
TOAD CAT2 alarm/immobiliser with certificate
Grooved CRN Performance front brake discs and Yellowstuff pads (these work extremley well)
Jasma SS rear exhaust (Very Rare) and HKS induction kit. These aren't noisey at cruising speeds but sound amazing under acceleration
JVC CD/Radio with USB input
Vibe 6x9's behind the seats
Clear front sidelights
White dials with adjustable blue illumination

She passed the MOT without any advisories which reflects the great condition she's in, but there are a few niggles which need sorting. These are;

Rust patch on the bottom edge of both doors. - These aren't too difficult to repair, but would cost about £100 to paint. (See photo)
One of the rear sills has been welded in the past and although solid, it has some surface rust - just requires wire brushing and spraying with Hammerite. (See photo)
A couple of patches of surface rust on the edge of the roof. - Not too bad but will need treating at some point. (See photo)
The leather seats aren't in geat condition. The passenger seat isn't too bad, but the leather on the drivers seat is worn / cracked and a bit of stitching has come apart. (See photos)
The chrome gearnob is flaking and doesn't fit properly.
Speaker grills are missing.
It needs a standard size stereo blanking plate put in as it previously had a double DIN unit fitted.
Both front tyres have worn outer edges due to a previous error with the tracking. It was laser alligned before I bought it and drives perfectly straight. I never bothered to change the tyres as they're still legal and are very good Bridgestones.
Alloy wheels look good from a distance but the paint is starting to flake.
A couple of stonechips and scratches, but the dark Goodwood Green paintwork polishes up lovley - almost looks black.
Air con doesn't work.

Please dont be put off by any of these as they're are literally the only faults I have found with the car and they're all minor jobs which aren't urgent - even the areas of rust that I mentioned won't cause any problems for a good few years yet. Everything else is in fantastic condition, mechanically and structurally sound. She drives brilliantly, 0-60 in 7.7 seconds, handles as if she's on rails, and stops bloody well. It really is a comfortable, enjoyable car to drive and I managed to get 40mpg on a few long drives so it doesn't cost the earth to run either. Oh and to insure it on a classic car policy was £350 fully comp, (25yr old student with 1 claim).

All in all, a great little sports car thats been maticulously maintained and cared for throughout its life. Theres loads of service history, part Toyota main dealer, part independant specialists. Every single reciept and invoice is there since the car was imported in 1998, except between Nov'04 - Feb'07 as the previous owner lost it. I serviced the car myself (Motorsport Engineer) at the end of 2010, using genuite Toyota filters and Mobil 1 oil and it's done less than 1000 miles since. All the original handbooks are there, Japanese and UK, the toolkit and storage bags for the glass roof are there, aswell as an oldand original MR2 Drivers Club Members Handbook.

Service History - Totaling over £12,000!

Clutch
Clutch master and slave cylinder
Brake master and slave cylinder
Cambelt
Droplinks and balljoints
All service items - pads, oil, filters, fluids, sparkplugs, HT leads, distributor e.t.c.

I think £800 is a good price considering the little jobs which need doing - feel free to let me know if i've under/over valued it.
