ABS 'Boinging' spring noise

Post by nick26275 »

Hello, I've only had my car back on the road a couple of weeks following fitting a new subframe and replacing a rear alloy wheel following a fairly heavy slide into a high curb. My rear camber is still slightly out, but what has really got me stumped is my ABS 'boinging' spring noise seems to happen allot more often. It used to sound when I pulled away after starting up and that was it but now almost every other time I come to a complete standstill, its there 'boing'. The brakes themselves feel the same as they always did but I was just after some feedback from other owners is this normal or was the way it was normal? and what could be the problem? There is no ABS warning light and I have tried checking for ABS faults and there are none. Any Ideas?

Just an update. The cars now developed a pulsing on braking like the abs is running at about two pulses a second.then sometimes when lifting of the brakes I get a knocking noise for a few seconds. Havent had a chance to have a good look at the brakes yet could it just be low pads, slightly warn calipers?

I also get this noise.. it turns out it is the end of the spring not sitting in the spring cup propperly and it pops out when going to full lock.. Might be the same issue..

Omg.

If you have found out what causes this you can have my hand in marriage! I've had this issue for a while, and was abou to pay through the nose to get all the brakes overhauled and new disks etc.

- bows down -

I am NOT worthy.

Watching this thread as well, my abs on my 90 kicks in when nearing to a stop.

Usual abs noise - more described a farting by my other half.

Must annoy my neighbour when I'm coming home from shift work...

Clean all the rust and crud off the ABS sensors and then clean up the n_n_n_n shaped bit of metal that are all around the spinny bits of the hubs and the same on the rear drive shafts, they get covered in rust and crap and this fools the ABS sensors into thinking when you brake that the wheel is not turning so the valve in ABS solenoid block pulses to release the "it thinks" locked wheel.

Mine used to pulse all the time at slow speed normal braking and after I cleaned the sensors up it has not dont it only when I really push hard in the pedel trying to push it though floor.

The sensors are slightly magnetic so rust particals stick to them, they are hall efect type sensors so sence the change in magnetic feild !

Hope this helps.

Always wondered what the 'boing' noise was, and how common it was.. No effect on braking performance..

Yep and another, I thought it might be worn suspension bushes but this sounds exactly the same as what I'm getting.
