Well i always wanted a Mk2 Mr2 so when i turned 21 i thought i would treat myself, I ended up with a Import 1990 Toyota MR2 Rev 1 2.0 Glimited
Went for a Non turbo due to insurance and fuel costs being a uni student and all that.
It had an un branded induction kit, some gash 18" wheels and a nice Mongoose exhaust but was definitely good fun.Cleaned after i purchased it:
Well i tidied it up a bit and changed a few things to more my tastes and just generally kept on top of it and enjoyed driving it.
I then decided it was time to get rid of the wheels i disliked so much! Took me a while but found a set of Super Advan's in a perfect staggered fitment for the mr2.This picture was taken entering The Fast Show 2011:
Well by now i was in love with the car but i started to feel i should have bought a turbo instead! Me being difficult as per usual decided that i needed boost in my life but didn't want the hassle of selling my car to fund another so decided i was going to convert mine.
This is where the long haul story starts.I ended up buying another 1990 Rev 1 but this time a turbo! The shell was suffering with rust badly but all else seemed fine so perfect for my needs.
When the car was on the isle of wight i stored it on my friends drive an promptly forgot about it till i finished the year at uni! There it sat for 6 months till i actually got round to getting at it! The car was then moved to my drive and the fun started! Friends came round and helped get it out and that was that (really wasn't as easy as that to get it out!) The donor car also held a few hidden bonuses that were taken and swapped to my car like the mint condition half leather interior.
This is how my drive was for about a month after the engine came out:
Time came to rent a van and take the engine over to another friends and there it was stripped down to replace the important things like headgasket.
It was here that it was found the engine was not in as good shape as first thought. The cambelt was barely on and it was running non turbo spark plugs which the tips were breaking off, that wasn't the worst bit though. At some point something had gone through as there was metal melted to the piston tops, what ever it was had also caused bad scoring in the block itself. This news didn't make me feel good to say the least.The options i had were:
- Scrap the whole project - Source another bottom end - Buy over sized Toyota Pistons and bore original block - Buy over sized forged pistons and bore the original blockIt took a couple weeks for me to decide but then when i realized my final payment of student loan
(wasnt one for drinking it away) was coming in i thought i just well go the full hog.With that settled and few weeks later these arrived which me:

Wiseco 87mm over sized forged pistons Eagle H Beam Forged Rods ACL Race Bearing throughout ACL Thrust Bearings ARP Bolts and Studs throughoutCost a lot but it all looked so good!

Well with this all of it was delivered to my friend who was building the bottom end for me and then he got started

With the engine at my house the N/A engine had to come out of my Mr2 so it was taken off the road in late august and the car has been sat on my drive like the picture below ever since

Well this is as far as anything has really moved at the moment as at the start of September i got a new full time job which was suppose to be 5 days a week then it turned to 6 days a week and then some i even did the full 7 days.
Things should have quietened down now so im desperate to get on with this now. I have still been buying things though Carbon dash parts, Tein coil overs, dash mount gauge pod, full poly bush kit, braided lines, later spec brakes etc etc etc (my room is more mr2 parts than anything else)Carbon Dash:
