Dull patches of paint on my black 2!

Post by xtremepix »

Hey,

I've been spending time washing, and using T-Cut colourfast (black) to remove dull patches of paintwork. I gave it a full going over, and it gave a great shine. I decided to go back over the particularly dull patches, and I'm not sure if it's just in my head... but I think they are getting worse.

Can anyone recommend a product for restoring black paintwork? I'd like to avoid a visit to a sprayshop!

Regards,
James

Coloured T-cut is not very good either - I find it leaves nasty residue on the paint. Standard un-coloured is much better.

if your goin to use g3 and a mop then go over it with some good polish after like auto glym as g3 is a buffing compound and will loose it`s shine quickly

Where are you based? There's no point in polishing it at all if its gone through the laquer. That could be the reason its getting worse, in which case a respray is the only option. If its just dull then you need to polish and then seal the hard work in.

cheers,

Michael.

I'm in Worthing, near brighton. Thanks for the replys guys. I'm not sure if its polishable or not... but to be honest I'd rather spend £20 on some decent colour renovator and have a go! If thats no good then it'll have to be the paintshop =[

"Colour renovator" is not going to fix it! That crap is full of fillers and at very best will mask the damage for a few washes. You're far better to have the damage polished out if possible or at worst, re-spray.

If you were nearer to me, I would happily come round and assess the damage. Find a local Car Detailer or pop into a good paintshop and ask them, they'll be able to tell you in seconds what the problem is... or as previously stated, pop a picture up on here and we should be able to tell you.

Cheers,

Michael.
