What should I expect to pay for a Mr2 Mk1b with less than 80k, low owners and with no rust or minimum minor rust?

Although I've seen some go recently for less than a grand![]()

I don't think some owners want to look too close when they're selling!

Never trust what a seller says when it comes to looking for rust.As Phil says, they probably have never properly checked for rust in the sills, A/B pillars/floor pan etc.

I always wanted a MK1 since my then girlfriend had one as a company car in the mid-eighties.I was driving an E21 BMW 320 at the time and was astonished how nimble her car was
- just as much fun as an Alfasud but reliable and could be taken out in the rain.

There's seemingly a plethora of extremely serviceable MK1 MR2s available at any given time for a few hundred quid. Many of these could probably bang out 30-40k of duty with a grand or so spent on essential running repairs.
Compared to its contemporaries, The MK1 is arguably one of
the
classic bargains of all time in the here and now, considering the engineering and styling effort that went into it.
It's deffo a buyer's market at the moment.Good luck to the opportunistic dealers who are currently asking up to 4k for refurbished examples.
Because the MK1 looked just a bit too eclectic and feminine during its production run, many have led cosseted lives as second cars, looked after like pets by loving owners, hence the superabundance of quite redeemable examples with an MOT of sorts available for 5-800 quid.

.after waffling more than I intended, and in answer to the question
- I reckon you could buy an extremely nice unadulterated MK 1 requiring no immediate pressing attention, for around 2k if you're prepared to travel.
If you're extremely lucky, you could get a cherishable car for not much more than half that.
