how big is the copper crush washer on the sump plug?

You'll most likely be fine reusing the old washer, I've compared an old with new a few times and can never see any difference.

the toyota washer features a paper-like layer
(or membrane) which aids in sealing buy absorbing an amount of any escaping oil and acting as a barrier against any more.
