Road and wind noise when on motorways and the short fifth gear.

Ye I'll agree with that although i think a quick adjusment of windows might fix it
Re: What do you hate about mr2 ownership
gotta agree with that, 4k rpm at (indicated) 90mph sometimes does my head in.

4k at 90mph is absolute bliss compared to my previous 1.poo Corsa - 3750 @ 70mph

Apparently, there is a fix for a majority of the road noise which simply involves adding velcro to the mirror housing where it fixes to the door and also the window rattle can be cured by removing the weather strips and "reviving" the fabric pads that have flattened over the years.
The guides are on the OC. A bit of a pain if you haven't got a garage though

fuel consumption (I know it's a 2 ltr, but come on!)
I don't think its that bad tbh, mine got ~35MPG on a run, it sucks on non motorway / local stuff, but thats expected. If you want MPG get a diesel hatch or diesel barge imo
Re: What do you hate about mr2 ownership
true. Possibly what I meant more is the fuel gauge being all over the place (from 3/4 to half takes forever, from 1/4 to empty takes 30.2 seconds!)

Yeah, I have noticed the last quarter goes quicker. In my old Corsa, it used to stay over the full mark for 80 miles, first quarter lasted about 100 miles, 2nd quarter went after about 50, and i would be at around 400-450 at the reserve light flashing

For me it's the difficulty of getting sane insurance for the car in Ireland, as a second car. My primary car is an A4 diesel barge and all of the ripoff merchant insurers here look at my +8 years NCB on the A4, and say "that second car will have to be a seperate new policy, that'll be >1000 please.
I'm 33 and with a clean driving record :/
My hope is to get it insured as a classic as it's 20 years old now.
No insurer does a low mileage second car specific insurance policy in Ireland. Madness.

Thinking about it, pretty much all the stuff to dislike is age related/worn part issues. Not too much to dislike about them I guess a cup holder as standard would have been useful.
Re: What do you hate about mr2 ownership
Rattly windows (rubbish brush guide design).
Calipers seizing.
The fact that I want it to go faster and look meaner which generally means it is less pleasant to drive!

That happens in alot of cars, But if you think about it. Does it matter if you have 35 litres or 37 litres in a tank. Whereas you'd want more idea of between 5 and 7 litres IYSWIM?
I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness.
Re: What do you hate about mr2 ownership
The fact that if its raining you cant open the window at all without getting wet
and the door cards and switches getting a soaking ,even from the early morning dew on the windscreen when the wipers are on

I can imagine that was pretty savage at 300mph

I think I know what you mean, I love having a 2 seater as the cabin feels nice and cosy. But when I have to drive more than one person around I have to drive my crappy Clio, so if the car had 4 seats I'd like it less but would be able to use it more.
