Curb weight of MK2 turbo?

Post by MrJu »

G'Day,

Can somebody tell me what the curb weight of a mk2 turbo is? I'm trying to work out power to weight in relation to my new creation! Another Mk1.5 turbo tipping the scales at exactly 1129.6KG - driver.

Cheers!

I think 1230 - 1240 kg's is about right.
Remember the weight of the fuel and other fluids and the driver on top.
Hmm, in Andy's case above though that makes him around 70kgs...

Maybe the early revs manage to get in at 1250kg but this is a minimum really.. most tubbys tend to be over 1300kg and some nearer 1400kgs...

Only possible way to know is go to a public weighbridge.

Well i'd say 1130kgs is fairly light for that considering.. go to a public weighbridge pay £3 and find out what your car weighs.. do it with full fuel (which adds 30Kg) so you can work out the weight properly.

A t-bar SC with full fuel = 1170kg
A MK1a NA= 1060kg

my old stripped out SC coupe= 1040kg.

Weighty matters!

Post by MrJu »

Hi Lauren, the figure of 1129.6KG was achieved today at my local weighy bridge. I think I was striped cos they chaged me a fiver! I have to say fuel wise it was on the orange light. My car is not striped out in any way, so i'm quite pleased with that. You may have seen it at JAE on the mk1 club stand.

Thanks for the figures peeps... 8)

Oh i see..

Well thats not too bad and probably about right. Am guessing its a sunroof car rather than a t-bar?

Consider that my stock-ish NA came in at 1030kgs (fuel deducted) so the extra weight of the 3SGTE engine and box would make a difference...

maybe there were weight differences due to the revision from the early spec to late spec mk1's :-k

Not at all, much more variance than that and more often than not far heavier too.. think somoene weighed a mk2 t-bar tubby and came back with nigh on 1400kgs!

weigh your car tis only way.

yes i am sure there is a difference.

what we need is for some mk1 owners to weigh:

MK1b coupe
MK1b t-bar

I have the weights for MK1a and MK1 SC

IIRC someone weighed a MK1b coupe @ 1050kg so just 20kg heavier than my MK1a.

Incredible isn't it that Mark's SC Super Edition (which has all bells and whistles available though slightly lighter recaro seats) came in at 1130kg

(all weights without fuel, ie they were weighed with a full tank 41l = 30kg well just under but call it 30kg).

Did they have a dead body and a few bags of cement in the boot?

My rev2 tin top was just under 1275kg when I was sat in it! I doubt you could get a MRT to weight 1400kg even if you tried! A rwd skyline doesn't weigh much more than that!

yours is unique though because the all alloy V6 (very pretty too!) is lighter than the 3SGE isn't it?

I think it was someone with a rev 3 that came in at 1337kg and there was someone else who's car weighed more, can't remember who though.

Just got my '94 GT-S Tubby weighed this morning with a full tank of petrol.
It weighed 1400kgs with me in it.

Weighed myself and the backpack I had with me when I got back and deduced the car was 1317kg (with assorted tools/steering wheel lock/polish bottles/carvac etcetc still left in car)

My car is probably slightly heavier than other GT-S cars because it has TRC/ABS/Airbag.

The operator of the weighbridge told me the reading is accurate within 20kg.
