running with no dump valve

Post by wayn123 »

hi guys

Had a little test drive yesterday in a R5 turbo (looking for a car while the 2s off the road) and the guy had removed the dump valve and blocked it off so it was just the waste gate chatter and it sounded nice
if i done this to my rev 1 turbo is there any probs. i will get????

thanks

Not advisable - the stock Toyota turbo has a weak shaft connecting the two wheels and you'll stress the hell out of it running with no BOV.

As above, not on a stock unit, but I'm running no BOV on my T67 and it sounds awesome!

Stock turbo has ceramics, so thats why it won't take the stress without the BOV. But the other guys have aftermarket turbos with steel shafts and they can take it, no problem :thumleft:

My hybrid still chatters even with the BOV on occasions :)

So does my Stage 2 Hybrid :) Mainly seems to be when the weather is cold and the air is nice and dense.

Anyway, yeah as has been said if you're running a stock CT26 Turbo on your car the ceramic shaft sacrifices strength and durability for lightness and the quicker spooling time that allows.
