Bloody hell, that's EXCELLENT! I thought it would be a LOT worse than that! Do you have any dyno plots to show what torque/boost curves were like? How much boost are you running?

I've always steered away from the Greddy/Trust Mitsi, as they're effectively hybrid Mitsubishi turbos and normally mismatched (hence why good spool, and good power for low boost), but they seem to be good turbos for the right situations.

I personally prefer the Garrett GTs, because I can get all the specs, and can even specify the exact spec I want. Also, with the dual ball bearing setup, they can seriously handle a lot of boost.

Having said that, I still show an interest in what others are trying.

I'm running 1.65 bar at the moment and it's an animal when it comes on...the screamer pipe lives up to its name. I have dyno plots for the car yes, I don't have access to a scanner though? they were with my car at JAE lay along the windscreen with a picture of the stock 26 next to the 67 lol.

Yeah, i thought i had the most potent rev1 til i learnt of yours. Was dying to have a word with you but sadly didn't get the opportunity.

As Dino said, we were expecting a good 40-50bhp more out of mine on thor's dyno, but the boost was tailing off above 6k, that and the old plugs put pay to my fun though unfortuneatly. New plugs went in the same day and thanks to Dino's wiring the avcr now recognises 7400rpm so i'm now getting to set the boost a bit better. Fingers crossed it'll be all sorted for totb.

Tis a shame that, so I have one of the more potent revision 1s?...when you start spending serious cash I don't think there is much difference in the end between any revision. Where abouts are you? there's always the opportunity of saying hello.

I expect good efforts all round at totb...although I feel a 900hp Ultima GTR might be a little hard to beat (man I want one of those...)

Ah, that's a shame (re no scanner), would have loved to see the torque characteristics.

If only I knew your car was around, as I was on the Rogue Systems stand for some time talking to both Pat and Matt. That Mk3 they're doing is LUUUURVELY!! :D I think that's why I didn't notice much else when I was there. What colour is your car, mate?

I've had the pleasure of seeing several Ultimas around track, and they're seriously quick, and that's with "only" 500bhp off. What the hell must they be like with 900bhp? That's nearly 1000bhp per tonne!!

My car was the black MR2 with full Border kit and TE37s...sat right next to Pat's MRS.

My next car is going to be an Ultima, I'm off to the factory next weekend to check them out. I was toying with the idea of an Escort Cosworth, but why spend 15k on a car I'd need to spend over 15k on to even get close to Ultima performance...and I doubt I'd even get close.

I can't see how you can beat that car for bang per buck? in any given situation it's awesome. And the new car IS the fastest car on earth, 0-100-0 in 10.3? that's faster than a superbike...silly quick.

There's a few MR2s on Autotrader for 10-12k with nowhere near the state of mine...so that bodes well for funding at some point

I'm a big fan of the Ultima, ever since I used to be involved with the kitcar industry, way back when.

Did you know that it was used by McLaren as the test mule for the BMW powerplant that would eventually end up in the McLaren F1 before they started using the McLaren chassis? That's how good the chassis is (designed by no other than Lee Noble of Noble cars!), and Ultimas have been privately entered in GT events for some time now.

I'd personally love to build one, but with one of the latest BMW 5.0 V10 engines, run on a MoTeC. Mmmmmm, lovely!! :D

Also, if you consider how much people like Jonno, AndyF and myself have spent on their MR2s, we'd probably have been able to put together a seriously fast Ultima each, if we built it ourselves!!

Yup...sounds like a very good idea that.

I knew that about the Ultima/Mclaren..but not that Noble designed the chassis.

I'm too impatient to build one though, plus I'm too much of a perfectionist..it'd take me 35 years to finish it. ](*,)

With the price around 35k on the trader, you can include me in the 'I've spent more money on my car than some third world debt' club...and it's not good when you think of what you could have got. :-k

While we're on the subject of borrowing bits, does anyone have any carbon bits i could borrow for the day, bonnet, boot, engine lid etc.....

There's not much more i can do about power now as it's doing everything it's capable of now, so just need to drop the weight down a bit. It's being stripped tomorrow, everything i don't need is coming out.
