[Mk2] [Turbo] Boost Issue

Post by willfinch36 »

For a while I have been having an issue, not quite sure exactly what is the issue, but after about 10/15 miles of driving, the car only really uses about 3/4 of its proper power, if you reset the ecu, its ok for say another 10/15 miles.

Its had new NGK leads and plugs and oil change. but still no change.

It boosts up max on the guage, but still struggles and hesitates a bit.

No error codes.

I meant to say, "get a boost gauge to see what boost your running"

and

"Have you changed your dizzy cap and rotor arm" lol

Does the car actually missfire? Any warning lights on the dash?

Sorry yeah my next port of call was to change the rotar and dizzy, not exactly a misfire, just a slight hesitation nothing on dash

as in my first post, no error codes :P

give the coil a once over before you spend any cash...and also check for boost pressure leaks with soapy water.

look for signs of water damage and cracked insulation...and work your way back to the plugs from each lead.

No water damage.....

plugs are fine

compression test = all cylinders 12.5

new HKS radiator cap....

but still appears to be losing water? coming out of the overflow?

But not overheating or anything.... and boost issue/missfire in 2nd gear sometimes.
