Don't get me wrong it was a great weekend. 95% of the problems seemed site related... No real info on activities or anything and the traders were a joke basically. IMOC did well, we had a full stand on Sat :)

What do you mean?

I now have a lovely selection of china dolls across my dash!

Think perhaps the imoc gazebo needs to be bigger, it was very crowded under there saturday night, and after 2 failed attempts at joining a circle of owners, I couldn't be bothered to try a third time.

It's nobody's fault, it was just unfortunate

Were the imoc t-shirts being sold at site or just on mail order from rogue?

Pity I couldn't have made it for the football, I'm sure I could have helped us beat the OAP's

I should maybe have made efforts to mingle but I didn't know who anybody was, I recognised a few cars (Bry's, Mark Edwards but didn't know who they were :( , sorry I didn't meet you guys. The only people I knew where the ones we travelled down with. IMOC was had a big stand but it was full of small groups. We did have an exellent weekend, some of the cars on display were out of this world and th mk1 owners club were very friendly.

Ah shame - I saw your car and came back a few times to see if I could find you and get to hear the car running - V6 in a MR2 is a top idea ..

Sorry if this offends anyone but I was disappointed I couldn't put names and faces to people I had spoken to online.

Maybe a meet and greet would be a good idea next year with a time that people will know when to be on the stand perhaps it would feel more like a club for everyone that is a member of the site. Just a suggestion

Yep, its a good idea. Putting names to faces is always a challenge - don't be afraid to go up to people and introduce yourself - all the Admins were there with IMOC branded tops ..

Good point! We could definately have done with more room, i think that by the time all these tents started to appead the space got smaller.... like someone else suggested maybe we should have partied on the stand in the big gazebo.... guess it would have been easier if we were camping nearer the stand.

tbh Ben, I'm glad I never helped out, because I don't think that my involvement would have made the stand any better.

Ah, you're too modest ;)

In all seriousness though, my point is an obvious one: We need people to get involved to make things happen.

I was there to enjoy my weekend, not feel like I was at work.

Heh heh heh heh - you needed to spend a little more time with us relaxing over the weekend - I had a great time at JAE, even when soaked to the skin. It was good seeing and talking to so many people :)

I've got to agree about moving the location - it was always going to feel very different to holding the event at Billing.

On Saturday, before Midday the Atmosphere to the show seemed really quite flat - to me arriving at the club stand, there were huge open spaces with car clubs rattling around in the middle of them.

After Midday as the stands filled up it did begin to build atmosphere. I was expecting Sunday to be the busiest day of the weekend. After an overnight shower it looked promising with a good turnout onto the Club stand - but by 1pm when it has started raining hard most people were heading off.

There were some traders around - I had a good chat to Oilman (Opie Oils) and got some good advice on oils for my Roadster Turbo (I now have some Fully synth Motul 5W30 to try) but other than the Rogue Systems stand, there really wasn't anything that caught my eye.

I noted a few familar cars on there but wasn't sure if it was IMOC or not?

Michael, we were a few further along from that one - did you miss the huge Gazeebo with IMOC-UK on it? There were some stickies up here showing the layout and location of the IMOC stand too.

I've got some pics of the stand I'll post up tomorrow ..

I'm not keen on the new location, it lacked the intimacy of Billing and despite the promises of it being a safer more controlled environment all those roads seemed to encourage idiots to drive too fast. I also hear there was the usual assortment of thefts on the Saturday night - banners and stuff again... a real shame.

Anyway all my pics are here if anyone is bored:

Yep, got to agree with the comments on location. It didn't quite work - the spaces they'd allocated to the clubs were enormous, but given our 100 car pitch I think we were one of the few clubs that actually managed to fill most of it !

That comment is bang out of order. A FEW people made a big effort to have a stand at JAE and to be slapped in the face with comments like that….. Totally unnecessary and totally unconstructive. I’m glad the moderators have thicker skin than I do! If a few more people had made more of an effort maybe it would have been better. I’m not a moderator or anything but did help out setting up and packing up, so kind of feel involved.

Certainly there are lessons to be learnt and I personally agree with most of the constructive comments.

axisofunity wrote: But the IMOC stand was a bit naff. No one came over to chat either when me and my partner were walking around or when on Saturday we went over to the marquee. Toni and the admins were friendly and so on, but without any events or club stuff, there was nothing really to hold IMOC together as a group...

Ok, but was it really necessary to use the word naff? The constructive bit I agree with….

axisofunity wrote:
I just get the feeling that I'd have fitted in more with the OC / DC stand rather than IMOC which (and maybe shoot me down for this) felt a bit groupy? Anyway, what do I know, I'm only 21.

I know where you’re coming from, I am member of another car club where they all know each other really well, no names on Tee shirts etc. I am sure this can be easily resolved

speedy_g wrote:
Think I kinda agree with some of this, could have done with something for everyone to, rather that forming seperate small groups

That’s a fair comment….

speedy_g wrote:
I arrived very late on saturday, and as such felt a bit left out to be honest

That’s a similar comment to “axisofunity”, it obviously needs sorting…

BenF wrote: Its a shame you [RedMR2] didn't feel you could contribute to the event and didn't join us on the IMOC stand

   Blimey Ben, you are a mild mannered guy! After the comment he made I wouldn’t have said that…..

My suggestions are:

Have all moderators / organizers wear tee shirts with BIG logos and names

Have a signing-in attendance book, so you have a reason to break the ice

Offer name tags, so people know you are an IMOC member together with your real name and forum username (I hate calling everyone mate!)

If funds permit have a big water boiler and offer tea and coffee to members (or say charge, I dunno, 10p to cover costs) or even beer and wine at or near cost…..

Have a quiz or something, testing your knowledge of the MR2

Best regards and well done moderators,

Tom

Ok fair point, appologies. Well done to all who helped out at JAE to get the IMOC stand up and running.

I guess I was just annoyed for other reasons, but aren't discussing it on the main list.

Lol

Here's a clue to the real identity of icsunonove. He turned up with the telly :)

He's right though, we could have had something a bit more permanent setup in the white gazbo on Saturday, with a little table or soemthing to put an electric kettle on. Must write all these ideas down for next year :)
