Modding ST205 ECU to run power steering...help

Post by >PETE< »

Hey Guys,

I've removed all error codes when using the ST205 ECU (Gen III equiv ECU). The only problem is the power steering doesn't work, due to the fact its not designed to run an electric steerng pump. I'm trying to mod it so it operates kind of like a MR2 ECU.

I've found if I disconnect the PSCT pin the power steering pump comes on, however this means it comes on when the engine isn't even running (Never good to have this running when trying to start the car). I was thinking of putting a relay into the ecu so when the car isn't running, the PSCT wire is grounded to stop the pump, then once the car is running the PSCT wire is no longer grounded, causing the pump to startup.

My question is, what pin/wire in the main ECU can I use as a trigger that will suit these needs?

Most pins usually come on with just the ignition on, without the engine running, where as I want it to come on, only when the engine is running, not before.

If possible, I'm trying to concele all the changes inside the ECU so from the outside it still looks standard.

Cheers
