yeah this guy should have been reported for theft, the real owner could be in a coma or something, nobody apart from the police or council has the right to just take something that isn't there's, i think the guy had made it look like it was stolen to see if it'd come back to him through the police, chavvy scum!!

Thing is they are exploiting a loop hole, and getting away because it'll become a civil matter.

But its less likely as how long do untaxed cars stay on public roads?
They're all on the prowl looking for cars lols, think one of them gotta a S2k aswell

The amount of people on that thread that said 'well done mate' or 'you got a bargain, others are just jealous' is worrying !!! someone summed it up nice though in big letter YOU ARE A CAR THEIF !!!!! Brilliant :thumleft:

it really is shocking, i read the frist post and thought, so you are a car thief then??

I actually thought the same, but yes what is the point !! You would only have his mates saying that we were in the wrong and that he had gone through all the right lines etc.... i very much doubt he did. Its too fishy !!!

i've just been reading some more of it, i'm disgusted, somebody compared it to "handing a wallet in to the police" and after if nobody claims it, it's yours, bit different with a 10k motor i think!!!

the guy is a thief as far as i'm concerned, it could have been somebodys pride and joy, there could be a million reasons that car has been abandonded, if the guy had a shred of decency, he'd have used that club to look for the real owner, i notice he'd not disclosed the full number plate too, w4nker!!

I thought that.... if you hand something into the police and request ownership if its not claimed it takes alot longer than it took him to het a log book !! I read the whole thread earlier and i thought there was a very strange time delay in between the posts etc and didnt exactly match up with his story. He comments that the post was started in 2002 but then didnt actually get the car over a year later ? wtf !!!

The big character hinge pin for me was when someone corners him and asks why, if he did everything he possibly could to find the owner, did he not then use the details that wouldve come up on his shiny new log book as the last owner?

His response was that he didnt want to in case he then lost the car because they took it from him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That says it all. had the details, ignored them so he could keep the car. If he was after an earner and still wanted to go to heaven, he could gone to that address, adn if there was a reasonable explanation adn they wanted their car back, he could still haev charged them for his time adn effort as well as storage for x time. He would haev got the car back to it's owner, it would not haev been crushed, all would haev been legal, and he'd haev been some money legitimately.

As it stands, he is theiving scum. Sheppy, unlike you , I'm weak! I've already registered adn will be posting soon!!!!

Hmmmm, is it grassing if I bring the thread to the attention of plod? Surely it shouldnt matter as theyve all done nothing wrong remember????

The car should have been crushed. If its on the road un-taxed, then it should be crushed.

If your car is not taxed its not insured. :!:

If it was reported to the police, (as the guy said he did) being parked on public roads with no tax the police would have picked it up in a few days.
It is strange somebody would leave a 10k for 2 years. Even if something happened to me my friends and family would sort these things out for me.

Not strictly true... you can insure your car without it being taxed. You can't tax it without being MOT'd and insured though.

yes, but if the car is on the road the insurance is invalid if its involved in any accidents.

Agree about the untaxed should have been collected. However I dont think they should crush them. They should auction all but those in a unroadworthy condition. Auction those needing minor repairs/servicable items to make so. Too many cars get lost this way and this would generate more revenue I gather overall than a crushing fee and hasnt it already been said that its better for the enviroment to maintain an existing car than build a new one? One fot he lobbyist there!

Just sat and read that cossie thread.. Doesnt ring true at all. I left my interior light on over night a couple of weeks back and it drained the old battery that wa on, couldnt start the car in the morning. He`s making out an old escort sat for 2 and a half years and still cracked up first time for joyriders? Hmm...

Flat battery, binding callipers, flat tyres. As its a cossie i’m sure it would have had some sort of immobiliser.
Sounds like alot of work for just a joy ride.

They dont crush good cars that are untaxed, they auction them.
They always find a way to claim the money back somehow.
