Anyone running OMEX gear? I think I remember someone reckoned to me they were good standalones for the money (about £600)? I had a long list of 3S suitable ECU's to ponder at one point but not any more as I was limited with VVT-i capability which you don't have.

I have been in the same position as Jim, and have now decided to go for a Hydra Nemesis instead. :thumleft:

I've heard really good things about the AEM unit...have a chat with Dan at Advance Motorsport about it for more info (but he will try to sell it to you!). I think the retail was £1,300+ VAT.

Just Type in DAN TURNER on any forum and you wont speak to him again ;)

I would trust your Brother Ash to map a car of mine more than him. Only guy in the industry that i cant understand how he still has a business!!

u think how old the technology is,

You say that, but when I spoke to Ryan, he recommended me the Power FC over the Links or any of the other lower end ones. He seemed to rate them well.

I still do.

Powerfc is just a winner for cars under 500bhp i say.

Better than the link g3 on all of the below

Plug and Play
Sequential injection (Needed IMO for enriching center cylinders)
Knock Warning Feature
Closed loop Lambda that works!!
Hand held commandor for easy fault finding or monitoring without needing a laptop.

I'll tell you one thing about the AEM - the EPROM chip on the motherboard is really poorly socketed.

I was just about to send mine back for repair when I decided to open it and see - sure enough, the EPROM was half hanging out. I stuck it down with a little double sided tape on the underside, been fine since.

On their support forum, there are a lot of people with the same issue.

Think 14 cars in Time attack run the Solaris now

I wish the PFC had knock protection, not just knock warning.

I've been looking at Mega Squirt. A Mecca for someone looking to develop their own system ;)

I also looked at Nano ITX as a platform for an ECU. Would be nice to have the LapTop part built in. Imagine an ecu that can also play MP3's (and cost about £250) :D

can someone give me the heads up on all these random ecus that your mentioning...
ie where from, how much, who maps them etc etc...???

at present im tempted to just fit back some stock injectors, rewire my resistor pack and just run on the stock ecu to actually get back in the car and enjoy it.
am sure the car can handle at least 0.8bar-1bar with the apexi turbo with stock injectors/ecu...

Dangerous IMO, unless you have a wideband and a knocklink I wouldnt be trying that anytime soon.

Are there no PowerFCs on eBay?

one i bought and payed for 2 months ago yeh, lol

there was a SH one that sold for 575 today in Auzzy land...
to expensive if you ask me for SH.

thats it.

i would have thought 0.8bar would be fine.
stock ecu is pretty safe so would have its own knock control and overfuel when it needs to...

to a point yes, I wouldnt want to risk it on an engine of your spec though, would be pretty expensive to rebuild.

Re your Power FC, i got the impression you'd canceled the order?

Have to say if it were me I'd just get a link and have ryan map it(well I'd probably have Ed from Fusion map it but thats a slight aside :oldtongue: )

not cancelled anything yet, but i can.
nothing special about the spec apart from cams and cam gears (that could increase hp and potential knocking/det)
i can simply set the cams back to zero and be near stock. there only 264s.

harry ran 264s on his stock-ish white rev4 i remember.

only thing id have is a large turbo over stock and general bolt ons in theory, am sure the stock ecu can handle that....
stock ecu got me home from the garage and it was running 850s!
