1997 MR2 Turbo Rev4 - Astral Black

Post by willfinch36 »

Few pics of my new MR2 Turbo GTS, dump valve + induction kit + 17inch lightweight wheels.

78,000km.
Comments? I hope to change the exhaust back to a standard one, even thought the current one is quiet.

Also no need for dump valve + recirc valve at once :) One or the other surely!

Nice looking car, I don't mind the wheels actually, but then most people on here don't seem to like my wheels either

You've got an aftermarket dump valve tee'd into the pipe that feeds the intercooler right? But your car still has the stock recirculating dump valve which dumps boost pressure back into the air intake. So you're effectively running 2 dump valves :) Unless the stock one is disconnected and is just there to plug the hole.

The setup in the top left of your engine bay seems a little odd... most cars that run the Apexi intake kit have the filter located much more towards the intake but yours seems to have another pipe there :-k

oh right, I always thought the dump valve was in a different postion to other mr2s, will it do it any harm or is it all ok?

No harm at all, your engine is new enough to run MAP based management so can cope with pressure loss. Nothing to worry about :thumleft:

Nice, looks much better without the stick on fog :thumleft: What did you do about rear foglights? I am currently running with none but need to get that sorted before the MOT!

Gotcha. I've done this to mine: http://www.awpish.co.uk/motor/tubby/rearLights.html

But then the cheapo switch I bought from Maplin fell apart and I got a stupid idea in my head that I could do a much neater job and make it function like factory with a UK fog light switch and an indicator inside the instrument cluster like the front fogs have. Needless to say it's not finished yet!

Yeah I was thinking about putting perhaps some like bright RED LED's in the light cluster or something like that.

Just waiting for my de-cat pipe to come from rouge atm.

And getting cambelt done this week also.
