Mk1a Sherwood Project - price reduced again to £200!!

Post by c29dmt »

Have to sell my Sherwood project as I am losing my job

See post http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic. ... 97#1072497

I have not had any interest? Is the market dead? There must be somebody who wants a mk1a sherwood - it is a rare colour combo.

Help please as I need to free up some cash - I do not really want to break it as it seems a shame to say the least.

I'm sorry, I don't have the room or time for this one, but, I could seriously do with some of the trim elements from around the windscreen, doors and rear pillars if they are in good condition (I don't care about paint as long as they are not dented or rusted through) and you have to decide you have to break it.

Thanks but breaking it really is a last resort.

Unless somebody buys it whole I will probably cut all my losses and just let the scrappy take it

Would be a real shame though

You realise a scrappy will only offer you about £100 for it. :(

I know - I am hoping that somebody will take this project on. I looked long and hard for a project that was interesting.

I absolutely love the Sherwood toning colours - how many do you see up for sale!

It is parked up on my drive at the moment so I will give it time to see if somebody wants it.

Gee, it never ceases to surprise me just how much lower valued the MKI is in Britain than here in the states. Yes, this one needs a bit of work, no denying that, but it would easliy be worth more than is being asked for it, over here, just for the parts alone.
The year of registration has me concerned though, as cars with those exterior features did not come available here in the states until '87 or later, however, it does have all the early interior features.

The problem with the Mk1 in the UK is rust, rust, rust. :(

My partner's Mk1 is a C reg (1986) and has all the external features of a later mk1 (side skirts, plastic front spoiler) apart from the bumper which is early spec (flat front). The only reg where you're guaranteed completely mk1a features is a B reg and most of them are small piles of orange dust by now. :(

Wow, you guys really did get a unique assortment of components compared to us over here. Interesting.
Too bad about all the rust, but then I guess I hear about that quite a bit from people over here in the northest too.

I have reduced the price to £300.

Somebody has offered me this so they can break it. Seems a real shame as you do not see many Sherwood Mk1s around.

Still - I have reduced my asking price to match this in the hope that somebody will come and buy it to restore.

OK - there has been interest in this but nobody seems so keen on saving it.

Therefore, I have decided to have a go at breaking it. Never done it before so it will be a learning curve!!

See the post in "MR2s being broken" - I will add parts as and when I can remove them.

If anybody needs any mk1a parts - pm me.

Shame the car could not be saved.

It must be the only MR2 that will be broken having NEVER FAILED AN MOT!!!!
