Quick question ...

Post by FASTFORD »

On a standard UK foglight how many electric connections should there be ?

I have one with 2 , one bigger than the other

Im sure on the damaged one i recently removed there was just one connection - the large of the two connections ?

Just wonder if anyone could clarifie and if there should be two connetions what does each relate too

Cheers :thumleft:

2 connections, 1 for the bulb and 1 for the steering mechanism. it looks like you now have an import steering fog

I believe so mate, no reason why not , you will just have no plug from your wiring loom to put into the steering connection part on the fog lamp :eye: :thumleft:

I had steering fogs on my non steering fog rev 3. Worked fine, just didn't have anything plugged into the steering connection socket :thumleft:

Thats right , ive had a chance to have a play and yes the steering one fits perfectly into the Uk socket.

I just need some phat screws now to refit the new one , as i had to drill out the old rusted in screws!

Hopefully all being well she will be back to her former glory this weekend if i get a chance ! \:D/

foglights

Hi my first job was to remove the old foglight screws on a car three years old which was trickey enough, do yourself a favour and bin your old 5mm screws and replace with Hexagon headed 5mm screws made out of stainless steel. Get these from an engineering shop or a friend in the food or hospital industries they never rust so never again will they be a problemo.

Got the fog on finally today as the weathers been nice :D

Gave her a good wash after as she has been long over due and even got my machine buffer out for the first ever time after owning it for almost 2 years ! lol

Got to admit she looks a million dollars again now and im well pleased :D

The kids riding up and down the street asked me why i was doing what i was (polishing the car) " Well it makes it look nice , and it goes faster " lol :laughing1:

Then one says " what car is it ? it looks like a Ferrari " .... " I think it looks like a Lamborghini ! "

Couldnt help but laugh lol :laughing

Out of interest what has everyone else used to hold a new Foglight in place ?

When drilling out the old screws one hole was just small enough for a phat 12g screw but the other is almost like a number 8 after i had to go in twice to release the old screw and i cant find anything to plug this , but the other side is in SOLID so im not over concearned.

Ive picked up some metal plaster board type fittings that might do it , but it means making the hole slightly bigger again , so id rather look at what other people have done before making the hole bigger.
