bear in mind that the useful info on club4ag will be very old now. im not sure if they even keep stuff on there that old? but i first looked into emanages 5 years ago minimum and they were already well known about then. nowadays they are very old tech, but the old info was always positive.

your first port of call has got to be to go over EVERYTHING with a fine tooth comb. check all your connections, all your wiring, jumpers, settings, software settings, etc. dont overlook anything, the simplest mistakes are often the hardest to spot.

then if youve still got no luck start cursing and thinking about other systems. VEMS is well worth a look, you can buy a plug and play 4A-GE version as well.

Got a week off so will spend a small amount of time checking things but if no luck it's coming out and going on eBay. Vems! I would rather xxxx in my own mouth, expensive megasquirt without the back up or community. The amount of abandoned vems I have seen make emanage look like a massive sucess.

Don't take this personally, but a lot of the problems associated with fitting piggy ECUs or the DIY hobby ECUs is that the person who fits them (or writes the fitting instructions) often doesn't understand the way Toyota organised the ECU grounding.

The ECU has various ground connections and problems can arise if people just start grounding piggy wires to the wrong ECU ground.

This can lead to unwanted transients and noise on the critical sensors.

This usually results in poor or false triggering from the dizzy or jittery sensor readings.

I've also seen some piggy wiring diagrams that seem oblivious to Toyotas grounding strategy and it's no wonder the web is littered with confused people trying to get their MS/VEMS/piggy working reliably.

None taken, however I have been anal abut my install as I am exceptionally fussy about wiring and not your usual DIY hack and slasher. I can only presume the unit just doesn’t work on the 4age for some unspecified reason – which probably seems the reason why no one is using them. Even the ultimate seems to be a waste of time on the 4age.

The Blue was a worth a punt, it was cheap and my hope was to retain stock sensors and wiring loom but it looks like its not going to be up to the job. Should have just saved for the OMEX but whilst the base unit isn’t that expensive all the extras do add to the costs.

Its ok mate, wouldn’t use MS as I wouldn’t make my own unit and when you buy it its only around £150 cheaper than the Omex unit. The difference between the two is night and day, I know the MS is well subscribed but the OMEX is common place in almost every car mark and also on the circuits so the support is massive.
