Don't take this personally, but a lot of the problems associated with fitting piggy ECUs or the DIY hobby ECUs is that the person who fits them(or writes the fitting instructions) often doesn't understand the way Toyota organised the ECU grounding.

The ECU has various ground connections and problems can arise if people just start grounding piggy wires to the wrong ECU ground.

This can lead to unwanted transients and noise on the critical sensors.

This usually results in poor or false triggering from the dizzy or jittery sensor readings.

I've also seen some piggy wiring diagrams that seem oblivious to Toyotas grounding strategy and it's no wonder the web is littered with confused people trying to get their MS/VEMS/piggy working reliably.
