[Mk2] [NA] Will an alternator from a tubby fit an n/a?

Post by ricomr2 »

Probably been asked a million times but I can't find an answer with the search button.
The one I'm looking at is from the same revision as mine.

Yes, but the brackets are differenet so you will have to swap that too.

The turbo brackets are bigger than the N/A, they bolt to the same holes on the block its just the bracket itself the turbo alternator wont fit inside a N/A bracket .

So if I get a turbo alternator I'd need a turbo bracket also?
Or can I swap the bracket from mine onto the turbo one?

If you car is a N/A and you want to put a Turbo alternator on it you will need the bracket definatly as the Turbo alternator wont physically fit in the bracket.

If you car is a Turbo and you want to put a N/A alternator on it then you may get away with just using a spacer on the Turbo bracket, as the N/A alternator will physically fit in the bracket but will be loose.

Hope that helps. :thumleft:

I got a bracket for a Turbo alternator here.

They are quite heavy so would be about £10 to post but you can have for for £25 delivered if it helps. :thumleft:
