lol, mine had one when I bought it, kept it on for about a month whilst I was waiting to find a sail panel to replace it with, went straight on ebay soon as I got the replacement, never noticed any different in engine temps like, it just looked stupid, they look even more stupid when theres a pair of them, and even worse on non kitted cars too.

i think the bomex scoops look better than the toms one's.

there is a third type which sits lower and curls round the side of the car cant remember the make of it though.

and there's this type from do-luck:

yeah the quality is usually p1$$ poor, and requires a ton o work to get the fit right, and then it'll rub on the roof n damage the paint.

mind you £888 for the do-luck roof ducts, jeez

function over fashion every time. If it does nothing for the car, whats the point. I'm sure if they made that big a difference they would come with the car out the box.

Air scoops were a dealer option in the early nineties, it was called the "Bunny option"

Definitely something suspect about the bidding on those, they cost less than that new [-X

Anyway, my take on the TOM's scoops is that they do look a bit daft. IF you are going with them then i reckon you need the full TOM's kit to pull them off, ie. you are creating a TOM's replica car and not just putting one on becuae you like the look of them. Sometimes fitting a silly looking mod is acceptable if you are doing it for a reason like that.

I will admit that when i bought my first MR2, i was going to fit one, but then once i joined a few MR2 forums and checked out loads of different MR2 pictures on them, i realised that it would be a very BAD idea to fit one!

The Bomex ones look far better in my opinion :)

Drag doesnt just affect speed. It affects MPG. And that will happen at any speed.

I think the thing here is that these make such little performance difference the ONLY reason you'd fit them is for looks. If you like that look then fine. But some dont.
I dont really care for them, but then I've seen much worse body mods than them.

Now what I will say, and please dont take it personal but BONNET SCOOP?
Why the HELL would you fit a scoop on the bonnet? To keep the spare tyre cooler? Pointless mod that will just make the car took horrid and "busy" with too much going on.

A nice clean lined MR2 is a lovely looking car even today after all these years. Dont spoil it too much :thumleft:

maybe its to redirect cold air towards the back of the air-con radiator, which would make the air-con colder? :-k

It's a rev2 I think - aircon rarely works on them due to the old gas and many conflicting stories about fixing them :thumleft:

i like the aggressive look its just to my taste, really like the border bonnets but dont have the £700 to spend on a carbon one so hence im going to make my own one,
its purely on looks you dont always fit something because it serves a purpose its just for the looks thats all i want my two for to look the part and slowly she's getting their. :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:

I have a carbon one on my widebody

OPINION - It looks ok
FACT - My filter is right under it and gets more air as a result
FACT - It does not need to be sealed to get more air to the filter
FACT - You can get a 6" feed into one and run it directly to a filter
FACT - You can improve on a various aspects of a manufacturers original design on just about any car
FICTION - Just because somone has an opinion they are right

Now put you toys back in you prams and try and be a little more subjective.
