MOT Failed- Emissions

Post by 01smiffy »

Sorry guys

Car failed MOT on CO Emmissions! i have not done anything since last MOT which passed no problems!
I have a rev3 turbo with no Cat

The CO readings are 2nd fast ideal test 0.520 & should be no more than 0.300!

gargage reckons is the Lambda senser?

Any advise would be great!

so you're sure you are being tested against the non cat emission level, rather than the with cat level?

it depends on your car's age though - around 1995 was the cut off year at which turbos had to be measured against the more strict with cat levels.

cheap tings to do to try and reduce emissions:

- get the mot done when the car is hot
- stick a new air filter in
- clean or replace the plugs
- run redex through the tank
- spray carb cleaner into the trottle body

These worked for me with my old VW...but they're intuituve enough.

you could try re-directing the crank breather to atmosphere, but this itself is an MOT fail.

expensive things to do

- replace the lamba sensor
- fuel injector cleaning etc

hth

My Rev 3 N/A cleared the emissions even without a cat.
