Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] ABS not working after engine swap
The sensor wires should match up. Check and see if you have power at the ABS ECU, as this does need to be repinned in the passenger footwell. You're looking for a black wire with a yellow stripe on the ECU-IG circuit. Spot on as you'd advised, abs is now working and i'm very much relieved to have t...

[Mk2] [Turbo] ABS not working after engine swap
Hi guys Ive placed a rev3 turbo engine into a rev3 NA body and have the ABS warning light on the dash and the ABS is definitely not working. For the engine swap, I used the engine wiring loom and the body loom (that runs down the passenger door to the passenger foot well) from the turbo and retaine...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] cam and belt rubbing on top cam belt cover
Check camshaft to cam gear bolts are tight. Cam bolts were on v. tight. Turned out that one of the bolts that holds a metal shield to the cam cover had come loose and was rattling around inside the cam gear like a hamster in a wheel!!! :pale: Crisis averted and a massive sigh of relief that it didn...

[Mk2] [Turbo] cam and belt rubbing on top cam belt cover
Hi guys, started hearing a rattle knock noise from the engine and decided to take the top cam cover off and it looks like the exhaust cam and the belt are slightly rubbing against the inside of the cover. Belt is running on the very edge of both cams. Is this a normal thing for the age, ie just need...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev3 Turbo fuel cut
As already stated on this thread, 18psi ish. It is quite normal for exact manifold pressure needed to vary slightly from car to car as sensors etc. age. Cheers Peter; and thanks Sheppy for giving me this value earlier. I made the mistake venturing out onto google, when I should have known by now al...

Can anyone confirm at what pressure my ECU will initiate fuel cut? As I've been reading some pretty conflicting answers online?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev3 Turbo fuel cut
you can run 17.5PSI safely, I think (i'm sure i'll be corrected) that fuel cut is 19PSI on a rev3+ :thumleft: Oh right, that's a lot higher than I anticipated. My engine and turbo are stock, but I've got a larger Greddy style intercooler and free flowing air filter and exhaust system. Will be fitti...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Rev3 Turbo fuel cut
Hi there guys Does anyone know the psi boost limit that the ECU will initiate the fuel cut, in order to protect from over boosting, on a rev 3 turbo? Second question is probably a little bit trickier! At that magic psi level, does anyone know what voltage the boost sensor will be sending to the ECU?...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Boost gauge advise / options
This ^^ i used brand new 3mm silicone hose, make shore you dont have any vacuum leaks in the system, this can play havoc with readings. Must admit it does sound like you've done everything right and your gauge is to blame. If you live near mk I would be happy to lend you my hks gauge for a test :th...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Boost gauge advise / options
You sure the tubing isn't getting softer when it gets warm and collapsing in on itself under vacuum? That's not a bad shout. :-k I've got some plastic tube protector around the length in the engine bay at the moment, but I'd never really want to trust that stuff too much, especially against ambient...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Boost gauge advise / options
Sounds like you need to check your install of the Stack gauge before buying anything else...they're decent quality and should do the job if installed correctly :thumleft: That's a good point Although the gauge was working when I first installed it but then decided to play up! I've relocated the tee...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Boost gauge advise / options
Hi guys, wondering I could take advantage of the great pools of wisdom again. Ive not long had a mechanical Stack boost gauge fitted to the car, however considering it set me back over £50, I havent been particularly happy now that it refuses to work consistently. IE, sometime it doesnt show any ...

Re: Mk2 Rev3 Turbo Rear Passenger CV joint boot replacement (ABS hub)
Straightforward job if you have a good tool kit and a strong bench and vice. 90% of driveshafts pull out of the hub with virtually no effort. Cheers Peter So from what you're saying, am I right to assume that I'll be taking the drive shaft out of the gearbox (still attached to the hub) and then fre...

Mk2 Rev3 Turbo Rear Passenger CV joint boot replacement (ABS hub)
Hi Guys, I've noticed that my rear passenger side CV joint boot has developed a small hole and is gradually flinging grease around the inside of the wheel. Obviously Id prefer to keep all the grease around the CV joint, so will be looking to replace the boot in the near future and wanted to get som...

I would say maybe you damaged your new mast ( did that before on my old car) Or there istoo much crap on the gears Thanks, guess I'll to take all apart again and have a look. Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Aerial not stopping at full mast
Gonna re-ignite this thread if I may? I've finally gotten round to looking at my dodgy aerial mast again. As it stands, the aerial retracts perfectly, and goes up when activated. However, once the mast has reached to top of its length, you can still hear the motor turning away inside. This lasts for...
