Re: Automatics

Just to point out, it is the 3S-FE engine in that. Can tell by the speed cluster fe have a rev limit at 6k rpm and 140mph as oppose to 7k rpm and 160mph. My advice is wait for a better car to come, you'll be sorely disappointed with the performance of that car. Plus it's an auto to top it off. Ah p...

I've spoken to the owner and he seems genuine but you never know I suppose...

I'm just dying to get back in an MR2 !

Looks like it's still got 14" wheels too.

Hmm maybe not so good then. That's annoying because it was the originality of the car that appealed to me most...if that's not an original spoiler then it takes from it a bit.

Re: Automatics

Who knows... there's so many variations between the JDM/UK models & of course there's nothing to stop people adding/taking away bits themselves. I guess all you can do is look at the engine as it's marked pretty clearly. Unless the listing states it's a 3SFE already. Yeah this one is a UK car t...

Re: Automatics

I think the one I'm going to look at must be the 3SFE then because u can't see those buttons from the photos I'm looking at.

120hp is pretty lame :(

Thanks for that. I thought autos were meant to make driving easier?! Ha

Do all the early autos have the 3SFE engine?

Automatics

Going to look at a 1992 auto MR2 this week and just wondering what I should be looking out for in an auto MR2 as opposed to manual? I had a manual for four years and have never driven an auto. Has anyone driven both and how do they compare? The car is going v cheap (bout 350 quid) so I'm not expecti...

Re: Why are so many 2's being broken for scrap?

In Ireland motortax is a big problem. It will cost you the bones of 800 quid a year to tax a 2 litre n/a...people just can not afford it. I had my one up for sale recently and could not believe how difficult it was to sell...in the end I just decided to keep it as I couldn't bare the thought of sell...

Re: Best Tyres for mk2 MR2

Falcon ZIEX ZE-912 for 111 euro a pop seem to represent the best value. After that I'm looking at Nexen CP6401 for 91 euro each and Toyo T1R for 170 euro each.

Mk3 mats in a Mk2?

Will the mk3 roadster mats fit a mk2 MR2?

I know they are intended for the mk3 and they won't be an exact fit as long as they are not drastically out of sync I don't mind.

Best Tyres for mk2 MR2

Need a full set of tyres for my mk2 MR2. The sizes are 195/55/15 at the front and 225/50/15 at the rear. Anybody recommend a good brand suited to daily driving? I'm thinking Yokohama AE01 Blue Earth for the front and Falcons for the rear... Alternatively I was thinking Toyo T1R Proxes all round...as...

Re: Fitting Momo Steering Wheel to Rev1 - Horn not working

I made a similar mistake with mine. Bought a rev1 boss for my rev3. Pretty sure i've still got the rev1 boss in a box somewhere. Drop me a pm if you're interested and i'll try and dig it out. Josh. Thanks v much. How much are you looking for it? If I swapped the centre assembley, the indicator stal...

Fitting Momo Steering Wheel to Rev1 - Horn not working

I fitted a Momo Race to my UK spec n/a Rev 1. The horn no longer works. It seems as though the Rev 1's had a different type of contact than the later models.

Does anyone have a solution to this, can I buy a ring to attach to the boss I'm using or is there a specific Rev 1 boss that I must buy?

Do they fit any type of MR2 or is there a difference between UK/Jap fittings?

Re: Rust and The SW20

I just put my Rev1 MR2 through the Irish NCT (MOT) and it will require underbody welding, which is a bit of a shock as I had not noticed any rust at all prior to this. Apparently where the anti-roll bars meet the underbody of the car there are some holes/corrosion. Is this a common place to get rust...

Re: K&N induction fitting, very quick question...

How did you find the induction kit in the end? I had a K&N fitted to mine for a brief while. I thought it sounded awful tbh, there was a really annoying hissing sound every time you accellerated. Fuel consumption was affected a bit too...
