Best Tyres for mk2 MR2

Need a full set of tyres for my mk2 MR2. The sizes are 195/55/15 at the front and 225/50/15 at the rear. Anybody recommend a good brand suited to daily driving?

I'm thinking Yokohama AE01 Blue Earth for the front and Falcons for the rear...

Alternatively I was thinking Toyo T1R Proxes all round...as they seem to be v popular with mk2 owners in general. But they are 170 euro each for 225/50/15's!

I'd first check what brands/models you can source to go on the rear! That size if getting pretty uncommon.

After that, define "best"... price, dry grip, wet grip, fuel economy, longevity, road noise?

Toyo r1r. They will wear quicker than t1r though

Falcon ZIEX ZE-912 for 111 euro a pop seem to represent the best value. After that I'm looking at Nexen CP6401 for 91 euro each and Toyo T1R for 170 euro each.

15 inch wheels seriously limit your tyre choice. There's barely anything available in a proper sports tyre.

I've been on the T1-R for a decade or so and think they're a pretty good all round tyre... That said I personally go for a 205/50/15 front... a little less understeer than the 195/55 and looks better.
As said the options with the standard 15 inch wheels is very limited.

I'd probably advise against mixing brands if you have the opportunity to replace all 4 at once.

Agreed, more neutral balance, less understeer on faster turn ins with a 205.

Tyre model, age and pressure plus wheel geometry are probably all more significant than 10mm worth of tyre width, I'd suspect.

Yeah true but all of those things being equal the extra width will still make a difference to turn in and overall balance. The effect might be lessened or heightened by variations in those other factors but with the same compound and pattern of new tyre with the correct pressures on a properly set up car.... The 205 DOES give better turn in and DOES offer more neutral handling compared to the 195.

Try goodyear asemmetric 2 or michelin ps3 they would b the best tyres for road anything else would b a compromise... everyone who these r the best

Got nexens all round on my standard wheels and they grip really well.
